We enjoyed our stay. The camp sites are wooded and fairly private but still close together. Our campsite had plenty of shade (which appears to be true of all the sites we seen). The fire pits come with a top to cook on. The beach is long and has lots of sand. The beach is rocky in some places The... More

We enjoyed the beach in particular, with an abundance of crayfish to catch and play with. Camp sites were pleasant and shady. Picnic/beach area is clean and has sun and shade. There is sand on the beach proper though small rocks farther out and away from the beach. Lots of local fishing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend camping trip at Father Hennepin State Park. The park is beautiful, in a great location, with plenty to keep busy. We camped in a group consisting of three neighboring sites. These sites were the perfect balance of wooded seclusion with grassy/sunny areas. Our tent is rather large, and the sites were definitely large enough to... More

My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) spend the weekend camping at the Lake view Campground. It was a very nice campground, clean and quiet. The campground hosts were very friendly as well. We will be going back again this summer!! Great hiking trails too!!

This is one of the smaller state parks but there is lots to do. Hike the trails, bird watch, swim or look for the white deer. One of the park naturalists told us there are only two in the park now, but we were able to find one of them. It is simply magical to see these beautiful creatures.

Very nice park for a picnic and a swim. The hiking trails are good for small children. It has been a little crowded when we have visited in the past but enjoyed the day. A great trip from the north side of the metro area.

There are beautiful views and we had a great time. The picnic are was nice. There were a lot of picnic benches to sit on. The beach was pretty long, if narrow. The only problem was the number of Mosquitoes. Our little one was badly bitten. Take a lot of insect repellents with you

If you are camping at Mil Lacs, nice weather is really crucial. We went to Mil Lacs for a one night camp over in September of 2013. Although sunny, the winds were sustained 30MPH with gusts up to 50. Temps in the 60's quickly felt like 40 on the wind swept lake. Our tent site was directly adjacent to the... More

Stopped here for a quick camping trip with the family on the way to Minneapolis. The campground was great, sites were huge and nicely treed in and the park staff were very friendly. Firewood and other supplies were readily available from the park or the surrounding towns as well. Be sure to stop in for breakfast and some shopping in... More
