We stayed here two nights so that we could visit Isle Royale Nat'l Park. We knew going in that the Lodge was under going a major renovation, but it was the only hotel near the NP. We stayed in the newly renovated wing on the 3rd floor. The hallway was modern and well lit. Our room had three areas (sleeping... More

Currently under construction, room smells of paint pool is closed and filled with construction materials. We arrived late (1130ish) and were given two $5 vouchers that needed to be claimed by 1159 that night. Bed is sub-par, outlets were blocked with some plastic, fireplace remote does nothing, refrigerator is way too small. We got 1 complimentary mint, our "lake side"... More

No sheets. (They brought up blankets) No towels in the room. (They brought up three when asked) No room phone. (When asked we were directed towards a pay phone in the lobby) Roving herds of hairballs on the carpet and random hairs on the un cased pillows. Dirty bathrooms (no soap or shampoo) and a fridge with some kind of... More

The hotel at the casino is undergoing some major renovations. The rooms on one side of the hotel are being completely redone. When those rooms are done, the other side will be done. So during the renovation period, many rooms will not be available. I suggest you make reservations in advance to ensure you get a room. We were unaware... More

hotel is currently under construction, so no pool, this is second stay and I really like the place, I seen other reviews of people complaining about cigarette smoke oders, and this is true, we stayed in non smoking room and there is no smoke smell, And every casino I ever stayed in, you can smell some smoke oder, and grand... The facility is under significant remodeling, which is needed. Dining room leaves A LOT to be desired. Smells badly of tobacco smoke. Menu says ask server about gluten free options....but server seemed to know little on subject. Unless you really need gaming, you have many better options.

If you're looking to escape for serenity and silence, punctuated only by waves and birdsong along the shore of Lake Superior, Hollow Rock is the place. Although the "2 night" minimum is in effect, much like cabins around Grand Marais MN, the price is much lower. The cabins are well crafted, clean and very comfortable. Bring DVD's if you need... We stayed at the Hollow Rock Resort, which is run by the Grand Portage Lodge. The cabin we stayed in was #5, Moose, which is on the end of the peninsula and surrounded on three sides by Lake Superior...you couldn't ask for a nicer view. The cabin was very clean and well arranged, so despite the smaller size, it felt... More

The rooms were clean and had every amenity we could've expected. The beds were more than comfortable! There is a restaurant next door (nothing to write home about) which is very convenient based on location. And free casino money for a little night time entertainment. We enjoyed our quaint stay at the casino.

If you call in person to book a room, be ready to say "excuse me, could you repeat that?". I understand that the place is understaffed, however when I called to make a reservation, the person on the other end barely spoke above a whisper, and in very poor English. She might as well have been saying.."yeah,yeah,yeah...whatta ya want?!". She... More
