We rented the whole place for our wedding party and even had a faux reversal dinner there on the patio outside on the first evening. It was incredible! So close to the water and very spacious for us all to have room and be comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding!!! Some people in our party left their belongings and Dave went... More

Our family rented the whole house for three nights. Dave was very accommodating, friendly, and kind. I highly recommend Bird House Inn for any get-away. The house is in a great location with restaurants, shops, a park, walking path, and even boat cruises all within three blocks. The front porch, patio and grassy area were perfect for sharing time together,... More

Ten friends gathered at the Bird House Inn for a wonderful reunion thanks to gracious hospitality, a lovely setting, and a convenient location for shopping and activities! We relaxed on the porch, enjoyed the gardens, and appreciated the many amenities. Thanks, Dave and Gretchen! I hope to return!

.....And this was the perfect place for us to meet and stay for 5 days because it was important for us to be together in a home-like atmosphere. Very nice accommodations with charming bedrooms and comfortable beds. A nice breakfast was served in the morning at a large table in the dining area. The main floor living room was large... More

My wife and I and our four grown children stayed at the Bird house while attending a Wedding. We really enjoyed the stay. Rooms where very nice and clean. We used the main gathering area quite a bit as we had a lot of catching up to do as we are spread all over the USA. Dave and his wife... More

The Birdhouse was so hospitable to us and our young children (many B&Bs are not), and yet respectful of those who might be taking a break from the noise and hubbub of kids. Also this is a great bike trip to take from Minneapolis. We biked the whole way on trails (except a small jaunt through Hopkins), and the trail... More

We booked the Bird House Inn for our out of town guests who were attending our family wedding. They RAVED about the facility, the location in darling downtown Excelsior and wonderful homey atmosphere. They enjoyed early morning coffee on the front porch, Late afternoon they wondered over to Excelsior Brewery for a pint and then on to dinner (several wonderful... More

I have stayed at the Bird House Inn and Gardens on two separate occasions, years apart. In 2009 I was pleased to learn that our High School Class Reunion was scheduled to be celebrated at a Inn on the water in Excelsior. I immediately began researching B and B's in order to thoroughly enjoy my visit. The Bird House surpassed... More

It's great to have old friends come back and see us again! It was lovely chatting with you and the other guests over a glass of wine in the evening and at breakfast. It was a pleasure, as often happens, to see the warm connections that are made in just an hour or two in a comfortable old house over... More
