I have been staying at the Grand Ely Lodge for years and I think this will be the last time until they remodel and clean the place up. Carpet was filthy...rooms were out dated and worn looking...everything was dirty. What makes me so said is its such a wonderful location and has so much to offer but a little attention... More

Decided to tour northern Minnesota the last week before school starts for kids on Sept 2nd. Stayed first two nights at Grand Ely Lodge in a family suite, which had very nice log bunk beds for the kids. While expensive, the room was very nice and roomy for a family with two tween/teen kids, and nice patio with lake view.... More

Start with the good... Quiet room with an incredible view of the lake! I sat with the windows wide open enjoying the view, watching Bald Eagles soar and listening to the loons cry. It was so peaceful and really just lovely. Room 308, but I think all the rooms that face the lake would have the same view. Even with... More

Stayed for a long weekend in July for a family funeral. Pros: --Friendly front desk. --Beautiful view from our bedroom of the lake. --Near Ely and many lakes. --Restaurant was great with my allergies, and service there was wonderful--we ate breakfast there twice and dinner once with a group of 12 people, and the waitress remembered all of our preferences.... The hotel is pretty average but the view is great on the lake side. Restaurant has a good breakfast and it gets pretty busy for dinner. Nice little bonfire at night, bring your smores kits or buy some smoked Zups meats to roast for dinner. Lots of water toys to use...canoes, paddle boats, water bike, kayaks.....

This is the 3 time staying here and my wife and I will continue to come back. The Staff is very friendly and when there was a slight goof on our reservation, they quickly corrected it with a smile. There are many things to do around the hotel and there is a great running/biking path just across the street that... More

Beautiful location, awesome views. The rooms are nice and roomy, my only complaint would be they don't use full size pillows, they have throw pillow size on the beds. The food at the bar and the dining room is very good and well priced. Love the bar area for gathering with friends and having a good time. The use of... More

Beautiful lobby and great staff and food was great, but no insulation between the rooms. Very loud people in the halls and the cheapest toilet paper known to man. One expects more from this moderate to high priced hotel. Best thing about this hotel is it's location, it's just beautiful with access to walking trails and free canoe and knacks.

Growing up this was my favorite place for wild rice soup!! It is still as wonderful as I remember it!! We had prime rib dinner one night. Great food. Great prices. Bar service and staff are so so friendly. We came back for lunch one day. Place was packed. Still, great service/ great food. Their prime rib sandwich is HUGE!... More

The room was pleasant and staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we didn't get to make the most the jacuzzi/swimming pool but all looked very clean. The setting of the hotel is awesome and over looks a beautiful lake. The room was clean, certainly large enough for a couple but I would not recommend adults sleeping on the pull... More
