As a group of five canoe paddlers, we were completely satisfied with our stay. Our room was spacious and very clean. Next time we'll bring our own appetizers and beverages to relax on the spacious porch before dinner. Good WiFi and complimentary coffee at a great coffee shop two doors away. We'll be back.

I have been canoeing the Ely area for 13 years and have stayed all over: resorts; outfitters; and other main street motels. This is my 3rd time at A Stay Inn Ely and it is my favorite. It is centrally located on main street. There is free off-street parking. The rooms are basic but clean. The beds are comfortable. The... More

We had full access to kitchen/fridge. We could have made and used the kitchen table any time. Very open and welcoming, come and go atmosphere. We stayed in the Ivory room. Views not included, but we spent so little time there, it was just fine. The bed was very comfortable and new. Some guests were loud on the porch later... More

My husband and I have stayed here the past five summers after returning from trips to the BWCA/Quetico. The rooms are comfortable and inviting. The lodge atmosphere and wrap around porch are welcoming. Guests are always interesting and friendly. The common living room and kitchen are comfortable and well-equipped. The location is very convenient for walking to restaurants or strolling... More

My husband and I were scheduled to stay here the night before a dogsledding excursion (White Wilderness Dogsledding), but unfortunately had some car trouble about 45 mins away. We called the owner, Don, to tell him we were not going to make it for the night, and that's when he kicked into overdrive. Sure enough, Don drove the 45 mins... More

It's a nice, clean, safe place. When we were there it was -29 below and the employees were nice enough to bring us a space heater to help out in the room. One thing you should know is the "breakfast" consists of a coffee and pastry at the bakery two doors down, which is owned by the same owners. We... More

Spent one night. It was our first experience at a place like this. We had the Crimson Room. One double bed and a large bathroom that was handicap accessible. We were on the main floor. The living area was very nice with a fireplace and a full kitchen if you needed it. It is very close to shops and restaurants.... More

Great location to park your car and walk to shops and restaurants. Rooms were clean and cute. Kitchen common area was very useful. Loved drinking a glass of wine by the fireplace while playing a game of cribbage then hearing the other guests share their adventures. And the stay had a perfect ending of a great cup of tea and... Two of our group stayed here while the third paddled for four days in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It worked very well for us. There is a kitchen, dining area, and living area on the first floor that's there for all to use, and we had it pretty much to ourselves. One of us was studying for medical boards,... More

Stayed upstairs of BaskeTree in west loft room. 2 queen beds with twin bunk over each. 1 separate bedroom. Sufficient lighting. Extremely clean private bathroom. If you are not able to climb stairs very well, you would want to choose a different location, the stairs were a bit steep and 2 flights. Nice rock garden area with covered patio, tables... More
