I've stayed here several times, the most recent being last summer. Parts of the exterior look dated but the place is fine inside. Perhaps slightly on the expensive side, but not a ripoff. Glam-style lobby. Smaller rooms than you'd expect. The restaurant, the JJ Astor, is on the rooftop and revolves, giving you a great view of the harbor and... More

Asked for a lake view, got a room on the 15th floor. Nice view, Room was clean, a bit dated, doorway to bathroom was very narrow. Bid on priceline and got room with 2 queens for $85. Would not have paid what hotel asked for directly. Nice pool and hot tub. Location good to canal park.

Stayed here recently while returning from a wonderful stay at Nelson's Resort in Crane Lake (see review). Decided to enjoy Duluth for a night. Booked a room via Priceline. As others have noted, the hotel is a bit worse for the wear, a victim of deferred maintenance. Priceline gives it a rating of 3.5 stars, which is generous. Otoh, it's... More

The only updating this hotel has done in the last 20 years is in the lobby. My room looked nothing like the ones pictured on the site. The curtains, bed coverings, and furniture were incredibly outdated. The hallway carpet is stained beyond belief (YUK!) and the walls in the hallways are in poor condition. The coffee machine in my room... More

We stayed here the weekend before Labor Day. We asked for and received a lake view room. The view was good. However, there were two major issues...one, the hotel has 15 floors and only two elevators and two, the WiFi was sketchy. The hotel was full when we were there due to an event that we were attending and the... More

The hotel is starting to show some wear, it's still decent but it's time for some rehab. The rooms are smallish but the view more than makes up for it. The entire hotel needs paint and carpeting work. On the other hand the restaurant on top is well worth a visit, extraordinary view at any time, a great place to... More

My toddler and I stayed on Sept. 1, 2012 (husband was out of town on another trip) - I was completely disappointed by this hotel. The front desk service was average, the lobby had been redone, but that's where the good ends. Our room was dingy and there were visible paint chips on the floor near the window. The blinds... More

We took a one night getaway to Duluth. We decided to stay here because I had stayed here before and many of the other hotels were booked. This place didn't disappoint. The room was clean, nice, and we had a beautiful view of the city and hill. It was a little pricy, but I was ok with paying that much... More

Room was old, dated, and small. The sleep number beds were terrible. The white Duvet covers were stained and the white sheets were dingy and not white. The bathroom was tiny and the shower grout was moldy. We used the shower one of our two night stay and the hot water was gone. The free internet access was pretty much... More

I have been coming here for 30 yrs and this place has really gone to hell. They staff is poor, the resteraunts menu has been destroyed, and the place is terribly out dated. I cannot list all of the dissapointments. The view was nice but there are other places in town with the same or better view. I will never... More
