When we opened the door to our room we expected a typical hotel room - what we got was quite a pleasant surprise! The rooms are large, the views immense, and the service is top notch. Our room was just outside the canal - we watched numerous ships move in and out of the area port. Across the aerial bridge,... More

This inn has absolutely fabulous rooms with views that are astounding. The room we had featured a hot tub and glass windows overlooking the Duluth/Superior harbor and was only 25 yards from the famous Lift Bridge which allowed for some spectular opportunities for seeing ships "up close and personal". We were fortunate to score a room during Labor Day Weekend... More

My husband and I were feeling the Winter Blues in January and decided to take a little trip. It was the perfect weekend! We booked the Whirlpool Suite (VERY worth the extra price), and absolutely loved it! Our view was amazing, the whirlpool replaced the need for a pool, and the continental breakfast was just right. We're not much for... More

Three high school friends planned and had a wonderful reunion at the South Pier Inn a couple of weeks ago. We enjoyed watching harbor activity from our hotel room deck and living room. This room was fresh, clean, attractive and comfortable. And, since the hotel is so close to fun sights and interesting restaurants, it was certainly convenient. Hotel staff... More

I have stayed at most of the hotels in canal park. My wife and I loved this place. You are less then 30 feet from the water facing the harbor. Even though you need to cross the bridge to get to canal park. It takes less then 2 minutes to cross the bridge from the hotel. I have stage 4... More

My husband and I stayed here 2 days. I loved that we could stand on our oun balcony and watch ships come and go. Yet when the door was shut the room was surprisingly quiet. Bridge and ships both blow thier horns when they pass under. We couldn't hear any of that with the door shut. We kept it open... More

Recently went on a trip and this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at... which meant that we thought it would be just phenomenal. Was extremely disappointed, however. Smallest suite I've ever stayed in- and the suite didn't even have a little table so that you could write or play games- had to use the coffee table for that.... More

The south pier inn has beautiful views of the harbor. I could have sat looking all day. That is their selling point. When they built this hotel they skimped on furnishings. Nothing is really comfortable=the couch, chairs, the bed. The TVs are outdated. No fitness center. The decor is blah. Nice little balcony. Convenient location Is it worth the money?... More

My husband and I found this motel by accident six years ago when all the other canal locations were full. It was the best thing to happen and we have been coming back for my husbands birthday ever since. We feel that the staff and owners really care about us as individuals not just paying guests. The morning clerk, Jamie... More

There are lots of nice hotels on Duluth's lakefront but the South Pier Inn is our new favorite. Checking in was pleasant and our room was very well appointed. Panoramic view of the harbor with complimentary binoculars, this hotel has forgotten very little. Spacious bathroom, modern electronics with hassle-free WiFi. Short walking distance to the lakefront and plenty of quaint... More
