The location of the South Pier Inn couldn't be finer! Situated right underneath the Aerial lift bridge, with views of the canal and harbor as well as downtown Duluth. However that was the end of what should have been a wonderful stay. Shortly after arrival in our room a deluge of water poured from the light fixture above the in room... more

I travel for business all over the US. When I get to Duluth I always enjoy the South Pier Inn. They've got the formula just right: great rooms, comfortable beds, a view that lives up to the expectation, scrupulously clean & well maintained facilties, and simple elegant decor that doesn't detract from the great setting. I've returned many times, including... more

A unique place to stay. Enjoyed visiting with the owners who are knowledgeable about the history of the island of Park Point, the lift bridge and off the beaten track places to see. more

My husband and I have been going to the South Pier Inn for the last 3 years. We went on a tour when they were having an open house to see what they were like and have never stayed any place else since. The rooms are clean, worker' s are friendly, and the front desk staff is willing to help... more

This place should be shut down for the way they treated us.  We brought our 5 pound adorable Yorkie without reading the pet policy.  They charged us $100 for a pet violation policy and WOULD NOT let us stay in the hotel with our little dog.  So, they committed credit card fraud by charging our card $800 and not rendering... more

We love animals. Unfortunately, some of our guests are allergic to pet dander. If one of our guests stayed in a room that had had even a cute little Yorkie in it, they could have an adverse physical reaction that could ruin their stay with us. We learned that there was a dog in this guest's room when another guest...

The family owners of the South Pier Inn have thought of everything to make each visit a special memory. The Jacuzzi, cozy fireplace, contemporary decor, complimentary continental breakfast and helpful staff are amenities one does not find at every hotel or inn, no matter what the price. The views of the harbor , Aerial lift bridge and skyline of Duluth... more

I stayed at the South Pier Inn for several nights in May 2009 as I was in town to take delivery on a new Cirrus. I had read the reviews of this property, and given the reviews and picutures debated between this hotel and Fitgers. I booked this one, signing up for one of their nicest rooms (Panamora Suite). I... more

Every business traveler wants a nice place at a reasonable cost with lots of amenities. This hotel has complementary high speed internet, breakfast, etc like a lot of hotels. But what makes this one so special is the attention to detail from the staff and the excellent European styling and ambiance plus includes a gas fireplace, jacuzzi, multiple TV's, multiple... more

My husband and I stay in a "nice" place each year over the Columbus Day holiday. It is our way of saying goodbye to the North Shore for the season (we stay closer to home during the winter). What a wonderful place! We new it would be great just for the proximity to the Aerial Lift Bridge and the shipping... more

Stayed a couple of nights Sept 2008. The best location in Duluth! And you pay a premium. Right on the canal. Watched the aerial bridge go up and down for fishing boats and big Great Lakes freighters. Easy walk to and from local restaurants, shopping, and the board walk on the lake. Rooms were very comfortable and the jacuzzi was... more
