First of all, the location was ideal for our group. We spent three days there and did not want for anything, Buffet was very tasty, with many fresh choices. They do allow smoking on the gaming floor, so had to steer clear of heavy smokers. The location was ideal for visiting sites in Duluth. I would definitely go there again given... More

My wife, two kids and I, came to the Black Bear and tried to check in at 3:00 PM. We were told to come back and check in 15 minutes. We did this until check in time at 4:00 and then I became a bit frosty. I was asked to come back at 4:15 and after reminding them that check... More

We were on vacation to check our son into to college. From tge time we stepped into the hotel we were not treated equel 1. reservation desk - the lady did not greet us hello - after I told her we are checking in she looked at me like it was a surprise and asked my name - still have... More

The casino underwent a major renovation a few years back which included building a new hotel tower. The new rooms are excellent and what you would expect of a new hotel. The older section generally has a little bigger rooms and is cheaper. We stayed in a pool side suite for about $100 per night. The room had two queen... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Black Bear Casino Resort Hotel this past week. We were tipped off that it was better to get a room in the newer section of the hotel, which we did. Unfortunately the only rooms available in the new section were smoking rooms, and they were pretty smoky. However, we did agree to smoking rooms... More

Stayed recently. Only able to get a room in the "old" section of the hotel. It was terrible. The carpet had large soiled stains all over it, furniture broken & pieces missing, toilet barely flushed, etc. The bed & bedding was okay. To top it off - we had barely luke warm water to shower in the morning. Had to... More

The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable. They could replace the carpet full of cigarette burns. The buffet for dinner was not that great. A huge arcade for kids and nice pool. The casino was ok. We will go back to this hotel, close to Duluth.

The hotel rooms were clean, adequate, great value and smoke free. A real gem alternative to staying in Duluth and paying a premium rate if you were fortunate enough to find a vacancy during the tourist season. Breakfast at the casino buffet was terrific. Lots of choice and very tasty and cheap. The casino is another story. Very smokey and... More

Booked the room within a block reserved for a local community theater festival. Hotel was within one mile of the theater, close to highway. Other than the carpet in the hotel room, the cleanliness was good - the bathroom was nice, the mattresses were very firm and comfortable. The A/C unit was pretty noisy when it kicked in. Had the... Do not stay in 317 - classed as nonsmoking but the smoke stench was awful. They offered to change the comforter and spray the room but the pillows and towels smelled of stale smoke. To their credit they did offer another nonsmoking room which was acceptable. The carpets in both rooms were terribly stained and in need of replacement. The... More
