We stayed here for one night in October while traveling to the area’s State Park’s and nearby Black Bear casino with our two smaller dogs. The room was on the second floor, it was clean, odor free and comfortable. This is a good value for the type of lodging. The free breakfast was the standard fare and reasonable decent. The... more

When we got there we were greeted by the host, who was very polite and helpful. We needed another room and they managed to set us up with two next to each other. They helped us find all the places we wanted to visit and told us about some great nearby hiking trails that everyone enjoyed. They really helped us... more

If you want a cheap motel and absolutely don't care about quality, then stay at this AmericInn. The entryway into the hotel had a very foul smell, we had to hold our breath to get through it both checking in and checking out. The lobby and halls were smoke filled. Our room had concrete block walls - it was small,... more

My family and friends have been staying at this hotel for years. We own land nearby and when we come up to our property to hunt, fish, snowmobile, etc. we always stayed at the carlton americinn. Over the past 2 or so years the service has gotten progressively worse. This last stay was the last straw! I checked into my... more

Stayed here 1 night on a business trip to Duluth, MN. The hotel is family owned and operated. It is located just East of the Black Bear Casino which operates a free shuttle for hotel guests if you're looking for entertainment. The room was very large and clean. Guest laundry facility was a plus for us. An internet connection was... more

We booked our recent stay at AmericInn at the recommendation of a relative for our trip to Cloquet. Since the Cloquet AmericInn was full (as were all other Cloquet hotels we tried, we opted to try the Carlton AmeriInn. We arrived at AmericInn, Carlton on the afternoon of 4/20, were given room 213, and stayed just long enough to drop... more

We were staying in the Duluth area to see family and friends and just to get away and enjoy the northland. We chose this hotel because it had the right balance of location, price, and nice indoor pool as most AmericInns do. The rooms are pretty standard, except for their economy rooms. The economy rooms are small but good for... more

A few years ago, we visited my Sister-in-Law in Barnum, MN. There was a bad snowstorm that day, the day after Thanksgiving. We called a few hotels in the area and they either were booked or charging a ton of money for a room. We called the AmericInn in Carlton and they had a room for $45. We took it,... more

This was the freindliest hotel we stayed at during our vacation. The manager and the staff were really nice and attentive. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and an overall great value. This part of MN is beautiful, especially during the fall. We stayed at several different inns, motels, and hotels. This one was worh writing about. Thanks Mary and your... more
