I realize the reviews of this place are startlingly varied, so here's my take on the Gordon Beach Inn. We stayed during a weekend in November for a weekend of wine tasting, so there were less tourists around and the place was quiet (although you'll read differently in other reviews and I could see how this old building with creaky... Well, after reading all the awful reviews, I have to admit I was sceptical about staying at the Gordon Beach Inn. But the description of the historic Inn on the website, the great restaurant and the art gallery lured me in. We were so pleasantly surprised when we got there. The rooms were not fancy, but we didn't come to... More

The room was so dated and smelled. Even my husband wanted out. We spent $135 for the night and there was nothing redeeming about the inn except its location. Mattress was V-shaped, the television didn't work, the staff was so NOT accommodating and for breakfast recommendations in this cute little community, they suggested the buffett at a casino! NEVER will... More

This was the worst hotel stay I every had. Not at all what they said it was on the website, or the phone. Small, cramped room, no one at front desk if you need anything. Plumbing is as old as the building. In the middle of the shower the water suddenly changed to scalding hot water, and I burned my... More

Just got back from a wonderful weekend trip to Union Pier/Gordman Inn. I disagree with the negative comments. The inn was built in the 1920's and has been maintained with that decor in mind. Plain and simple without all the pamperings of today's typical lodging. Refreshing! I found it very quaint and relaxing in this day of cell phones, laptops... More

It all started with check in. The young woman behind the counter, obviously more interested in her computer screen than me, asked, without actually looking at me, "Checking in?" Not, "Welcome to the Gordon Beach Inn" or even "Hi, can I help you?" Just a somewhat dismissive question that sounded more like "What the hell do you want?" Meanwhile, an... More

For $100 a night, this place is just not worth it. The rooms are incredibly tiny. There is barely any space to walk/stand or put your suitcase down. The walls at this inn and so thin that I can hear the person using the toilet above us. I awoke in the morning to the shower being run above us. You... More

One of the biggest problems with Gordon Beach Inn is that its sister property, Lakeside Inn, is just so darn perfect. We were traveling Labor Day weekend and Lakeside was booked, so we decided to stay at Gordon Beach Inn instead. To be fair, Gordon Beach Inn's website is really upfront that if you are looking for something more quiet,... More

The lobby has been taken over with extra tables for the restaurant which is open to the public. Inn guests do not get preferred parking during restaurant operating hrs nor is there any space given to guests to lounge by the fireplace or anywhere much in the lobby area besides 2 old sofas set haphazardly where there is some space.... Although this hidden treasure can be a little noisy on a busy summer weekend, Sunday through Thursday can make up for it. It's a step back to a time when life was at a slower pace. Stepping into the lobby you feel as if the the year was 1925. the stone fireplace and woodwork look like the set from a... More
