On arrival at this state park, there was no one there to check you in. Later I found out that the yellow phone at the check-in booth was used to check in. Found my RV site and saw that the electrical connection was about 200' from my site. Well this was a big problem since RV have only 25' of... More

We had a great time staying here. Yes you could here the planes go by, but it did not bother our group. We were close to everything and the walk to the beach was short. Also the lots are small, but when you go with a group it really gives you more room. We would go again.

The campground was Terrific! We stayed in Traverse City mid September for a week. The campground was neat, the bathrooms were clean and the surrounding guests were well behaved. The campground is in the middle of town which makes it ideal for visiting the local attractions. It had its own walk way to the East Bay beach, which was beautiful... More

The Keith J. Charters State Park is located a short walk from the Traverse City Eastern Bay. An elevated pedestrian walkway keeps you safe from busy U.S.31. We found the park to be very well managed and everyone we met was very helpful. Our campsite was near the west side of the park, on the southern border, backing up to... More

Great State Park! Very new bath house in the last loop is great. We love to come in the "off" season after Labor Day because very few other campers, but next time we will park further from the restroom because it seems everyone wants to be close and even though most of the park is empty it's crowded around it... It was a good experience to spend some time near the waters, it is a beautiful place and water is awesome. There are boat renting places all along the shore and they are reasonable. Take a room facing the waters and with beach access and it's fun to be in such a place on a summer day

I booked with the online tool. I picked a site that should have fit a 40 foot camper knowing that ours was 26. The site was so small our neighbors were on top of us. We read reviews that sites were small but I tried to outsmart the system and it didn't work. Worst part was site next to us... More

My son and I stopped here before leaving Traverse City to swim in the bay. The beach was pretty crowded, but we were able to change in the rest room which had toilets and changing stalls. It was pretty clean. The sand is beautiful and the water is clean, very limited vegetation and not murky at all. Beautiful day on... More

We were in the area visiting out favorite wineries from Florida. We love to camp but did not have the space in our car to bring all of our gear. While liking to rent the campground cabins, we discovered that the park has a teepee for rental. We thought how cool! It is set up on a wood deck and... More

We knew going in that this state park is located alongside a busy highway and near the airport, so rating it down because of noise would be silly. This is an urban campground -- sirens & car horns are part of the soundscape here. But the benefits outweigh the noise. We camped the weekend before July 4th... the park was... More
