We were in the area visiting out favorite wineries from Florida. We love to camp but did not have the space in our car to bring all of our gear. While liking to rent the campground cabins, we discovered that the park has a teepee for rental. We thought how cool! It is set up on a wood deck and... More

We knew going in that this state park is located alongside a busy highway and near the airport, so rating it down because of noise would be silly. This is an urban campground -- sirens & car horns are part of the soundscape here. But the benefits outweigh the noise. We camped the weekend before July 4th... the park was... More

We would stay here again for sure and had a great time staying in the West bay mini cabin! I will list the pluses first. Clean, friendly staff, wooded sites, TART trail entrance at rear of campground for walking or biking, proximity to areas attractions, mini fridge/microwave/ shop vac in cabin. Some downsides but not a deterrent would be: beach... More

Campsites are TINY and people are packed in. Right on a busy road so lots of road noise. Very far from activities and attractions. Pirates Cove is easily within biking distance and is very nice. Quiet hours not well enforced. I had to call about loud neighbors three times before someone came to talk them.

Good location and very clean, modern facilities. Camp sites kinda close together. Sites were very sandy- to be expected in that area but lead to LOTS OF SAND in our tent! If you visit- a must do is Sleepy Bear Dunes and if you like wine- Old Mission Peninsula. Got very chilly at night- but to be expected in late... More

The sites are very close together and maneuvering can be challenging with a large travel trailer when vehicles don't pull completely off the road. Biking can be tricky for kids as cars go quite fast. The walk to the beach was worth it, Lake Michigan is beautiful.

We stayed at Traverse City campground for three nights over Labor Day weekend. We love state parks and usually stay there when camping. The spots here are a decent size and wooded (which is great for shade, bad for backing a camper into). The camground was packed which we knew would happen but that meant the showers were also packed.... More

I'm new to the camping scene and State Park Camping was a little rough for my second venture out. It's a nice campground- the showers were a little dirty and the roads were very busy, but for the professional camper I'm sure these things would be just fine. One MAJOR issue we had at the campsite was a lack of... More

Nice typical state park to stay at. Stayed 5 days during cherry festival and the park was full. Showers had about 3 minutes of hot water each time an were normally dirty floors. Took an hour to get to dump on Sunday check out, but they had a good system. Was good location for events. Don't camp near road, trucks... More

We had camped here before in a tent but have upgraded to a camper. It was a great location for touring the Winerys on the Lelenau Pennisula and is located right across from the beach. We did not have a problem with noise as we were in a camper and it was not very crowded that weekend. The bathrooms are... More
