This is truly some of the best camping in Michigan if you are looking for some amenities like showers and flush toilets. It can be difficult to get into and you may have to spend the night sleeping in line at the office but if you are staying for a week it is worth it. I am so glad that... More

My friend and I were planning on staying at DH Day campground nearby but when we arrived at 5am on a friday morning there were already 17 cars ahead of us in line and only 10 campsites available so we decided to try our luck at the nearby Platte River campground. We arrived at sunrise and there were already many... More

This was our first time camping in a National Park. It was amazing. This is where TRUE campers camp! Yes, there were mosquitoes, but I guess this year it is the worst it has been in 20 years due to the winter they had, so don't let that scare you away. Call and find out how to book this campground... More

We really enjoyed this campsite. It filled up WAY in advance, so we had to stay in a walk-in site. Bear-proof lockers are available along the trails so you don't have to take everything all the way back to your car. The tent pad was nice, but too small for our family of seven's tent. The fire pit was shallow,... More

We just got back from family camping at Platte River campground. I read all the recent reviews. True keep your cars on the pads provided. Clean restrooms. Great location! Much fun in the river! Overall for being full - very quiet - nearby trading post - suggested a great fishing spot for blue gills. Bug spray needed

We had a Clean camp . Site was large, flat. Close to store and canoe livery. One can canoe platte river which is just a few minutes away. Also just a few minutes to small beach. Several light houses in area with good photo ops. Friendly staff at check in station. This is a great location with lots to do... More

The walk-in campsites are fantastic. Great tent pads, fire pits, bear lockers and picnic tables. The rangers were great. The restrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. It is only a short 0.8 mile hike to beautiful Lake Michigan. Now the bad. We were there mid- June and the Mosquitos were unrelenting. I was told they were really... More

We have been camping at the Platte River Campground for at least 10 years now, if not longer. It is our favorite campground of all we have camped at. My kids who are now 22 and 18 love to camp here and are sad they won't be able to make the trip this year. We have made the trip with... More

Stayed last week in July into early August, never wanted to leave! We planned a last minute getaway to Michigan to see the Great Lakes, stumbled upon Sleeping Bear National Park and decided to go. Initially we booked the only site available online, a walk-in site, C5, for one night, unsure of how the campground would look. When we arrived,... More

We stayed at the Platte River Campground from Tuesday Sept. 3 until Sunday Sept. 8. Although the campground was full, it still remained quiet and clean. The restrooms were amazingly clean. I think they were cleaned twice daily. Each shower stall is an enclosed room, so it is very private. There are only 2 showers on each loop, but we... More
