Okay, the proprietors would probably rather be spending their retirement doing something less challenging than running a motor lodge. They aren't friendly but who is there to make friends? The room was stuffy upon arrival but opening the bathroom window aired it out and it was fine. The beds were great as were the linens/pillows. I love a hard mattress.... More

The Red Lion tends to be the place people book when they wait too long to book that weekend trip and everything else is already taken. It doesn't have to be but I think the owners are their worst enemy on putting forth their best effort. We stayed here last year as a last resort and were pleasantly surprised. We... More

Nice, clean, basic rooms. Excellent location with lake views. Looked like they had suites, too. Independent motel with lower costs than other hotels near it. Coffee available in the lobby in the AM. Plan on returning for future trips.

We were looking for somewhere decently priced and not in Traverse City. My aunt and uncle recommended this place to us, as this is where they stay when they visit my cousin. It was quite convenient to so many of the lovely places in Leelanau Peninsula. We ended up staying in a 2 story room with a little porch. There... More

The rooms are large, but I booked a room for 3 people and only got 1 bed. Not long after being in room I killed 2 roaches. I took pictures of roaches, but site wont let me post them. I stayed when there was a lot going on in area and it was the only room left in area. Next... More

The hardest. Pillows. Ever. This motel was a fall-back for us because our reservation was double-booked down the road. Pros: Clean, quiet (near a road but the windows are double pane and very sound-proof), large rooms, kitchen. Cons: Linen (seriously, the pillows felt as though somebody balled up a bunch of laundry, rolled over it with their car and stuffed... More

We stayed here on a recommendation. Here's what to expect: Clean spacious room with a small kitchen, closet and bathroom, towels, bar soap and coffee. But do not expect to have quiet (the lodge is on a noisy major road), the sheets are threadbare with small tears in them, older beds, and while I'm on the subject of beds, do... More

Everything at The Red Lion Motor Lodge was top class! The 2 Queen Bed room was very spacious. Very well stocked in the kitchenette. Both beds were very clean & comfortable. When we arrived to check-in the Manager/ owners were very friendly & helpful. The Inn is right across the street from the Bay. M22 is a little noisy. We... More

My family stayed one night in October 2014. It is a nice setting and was fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, when we left the next morning I overlooked a favorite shirt of my husbands. I did not receive a call from the motel. When I missed the shirt a couple of days later and called them, first the woman told me they... More

I have driven by this place a few times looking for someplace better. I will not make that mistake again! Very nice place, fridge and microwave, A/C and FAST heat! Park-like grounds. Very reasonable rates for the location. We chose the lease expensive room and it was just fine! Clean, smelled clean, lots of channels on the TV. Will stay... More
