Convenient location with free public parking just around the corner and walking distance to pier, shops & restaurants in South Haven. Along with the upside of convenience, there is the downside of noise from the busy street on which the hotel is located. A small in room refrigerator was a nice perk. However, we had no internet at times and... More

We stayed over the weekend. Hotel Nichols was the only hotel taking a single night reservation, in downtown South Haven. I couldn't have been happier with the location. We were able to walk to restaurants, shops, and bars. Hotel Nichols was so cute! It has certainly kept it's charm since being built in 1874. If you're looking for a hotel... More

We chose the Hotel Nichols because we wanted a location close to restaurants. It is in downtown South Haven close to several restaurants and shops. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated although the bathroom was tiny. We stayed on a very hot, humid night so we had to run the window air-conditioner that was very noisy. The staff... More

Hotel Nichols is clean, but the room is a non-upgraded 1950's. The bathroom had a mirror, but not even close to the sink, 2 small bulbs, which didn't create enough light for normal morning prep. The bedroom...bed was like a rock and only 1 chair, which was a hard back dining room type chair. Not what I would expect for... More

The only positive about this hotel is the location. Was in room 17. Very dark and depressing. Only had overhead light that was very glaring. If you wanted to read in bed you had to read by overhead light.no night stands by bed. Carpet in bathroom looked like toilet had ran over and spot cleaned. No closet. girlfriend weekend celebrating... More

Hotel Nichols is fantastically located in downtown South Haven. We wanted a place to stay within walking distance of the pier and downtown restaurants and bars, and it appeared there were limited options...Hotel Nichols and Old Harbor Inn. We chose Hotel Nichols and found it to be clean and convenient. The price was very high for the type of amenities,... More

Four of us needed 2 weekend nights during Blueberry Festival and wanted did not want to stay in a chain motel out near the freeway. All of us were able to find 24 hr. free parking near by - our car was the furthest away, about 4 blocks, but we moved it in the evening after the day trippers had... More

We found Hotel Nichols to be perfect for our brief getaway. The room was lovely, the owner was very nice, and South Haven was wonderful. We were walking distance from Lake Michigan and the lighthouse pier. You could walk around town or sit outside the hotel and relax. I would highly recommend the Hotel Nichols!

Nice little hotel that is close to the water and downtown. The staff were very friendly, which means a lot to us, when on vacation. The price was a little steep for this older hotel, but since we were there for the 4th of July, it was kind of expected.

Loved it. Hotel is true to its grand age, we had room 1, i forget the name but its the first one on the left on the second floor. Room was spotless and cool even on a hot day without airconditioning on (AC worked great that night when we did put it on). Loved the lake breeze through the windows.... More
