I really liked this hotel. Has a quaint, old grandma feel to it. Everything is like staying in a grandmas place. But in downtown and like fifteen minute walk to the beach which was super nice. I would recommend this hotel and south haven for a nice quiet but friendly and happy vacation.

We have been in South Haven, MI, before and decided to head back up for Labor Day Weekend 2015. We decided on staying at the Hotel Nichols right downtown. It is in a great location. Its near everything like the restaurants, bars, and shopping. It is a very old building built in 1884. The room was pretty small but decorated... More

We've stayed at the Hotel Nichols every summer for 4-5 years, and we feel like family. The hotel is historic, and it has the charm of an historic hotel: every room is different, there is bead board in some rooms and beautiful old tile in others, the owner lives in, and it has knick-knacks accumulated over many years. The hotel... More

We had a harbor view room, no balcony, just a window. I enjoyed watching the boats come in and out of the harbor. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and bright. I couldn't figure out the tv and they came to help right away. It was much more quiet than I anticipated, being familiar with The... More

This is a great location if you are wanting to be in the downtown area. Can't beat it but this place needs some serious updating. It is a very quaint, very old hotel but hasn't been touched in a very long time. We have stayed here twice in 2 years and have not had a terrible experience but the rooms... More

We stay here because the historic and charming Hotel Nichols is located in the heart of downtown South Haven. The friendly staff and delicious continental breakfast with homemade pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit and hot beverages are a bonus. You might pay less staying at a chain motel near the freeway, but you would not be steps away from shopping, movie... More

I submitted a reservation (in Febuary) request for a one night stay in July. I received an email several weeks later stating that they only offered two night stays in the high season. Fine. I searched out another hotel and made a reservation there. Several weeks later I received another email from Hotel Nichols confirming my reservation. What??? I emailed... More

I read many of the reviews on here and decided to book a room. We stayed in the Hunters Room (room 16). The king size bed is SO comfortable. The room is spacious and there's a mini fridge too. Yes it's an older facility. There were bed bugs, but luckily I brought some spray to get rid of them. There... More

It is an old, charming building with creaky floors and thin walls. It has a home-like feeling. It is definitely a B&B. Not a modern hotel. There is no spa. No phones in rooms. No fitness room, no business center, etc. Old tvs. It did have WiFi, though. There was only soap and shampoo. No hairdryers or tissues or lotion... More

This is a charming older property located in the heart of South Haven's quaint downtown. The harbor is across the street. The beach is several blocks away. We did not use our car at all once we checked in. There is no parking lot dedicated to the hotel and we luckily found a spot in the public parking lot behind... More
