When booking TEI as well as Grand Hotel and other of this ilk, one should do his/her homework. These venues are NOT Holiday Inns with water slides and 943 TV channels! Some folks are entering a different world -- a world without AC, TV and Internet and they are uncomfortable with such surroundings. Not only are we booking a room/restaurant... more

As retirees who have always liked to travel, we've been many places and seen a lot. The Edison Inn grounds, landscaping and flowerbeds are quite nice, and we saw daily grounds maintenance. A few dead spots should be sodded, but I don't expect that to happen. Common areas were well-lit, clean and fairly fresh, though some woodwork was worn and... more

Great setting but dated decor. We paid extra for a "full river view" room but do not really have a full river view. The room is long and narrow with a small ranch-slider window door at one end which opens on to small balcony, which is nice. However the window/door is small which means the room is extremely dark even... more

This place first strikes you as a fake ... a bit too much of the "days gone by" feel in the lobby ... and once you get to the rooms with the ancient bedcovers on sagging beds ad scritchy chairs, you realize that no one is taking care of the place. This lack of care also extends to the staff... more

We have been going to the New Year's Eve party for quite a few years and have only had one bad experience which they remedied promptly. We love it here-close to home "getaway " without breaking the bank. Love the setting! more

My husband and I drove an hour and a half to Port Huron for a one-night getaway after Thanksgiving. I wouldn't call it "antiquish" but if you are a high-falutin' travelin snob, then you should probably go elsewhere. We thought it was just fine. Dinner in the restaurant (which I thought was nicely decorated) was delicious, however, don't get the... more

I have stayed at the Thomas Edison about 4 times over a 2 year period and I have never had a bad experience. The rooms are very clean, the heated pool is great and hot tub. The Pub has great music and great service. The hotel is a bit antiquish and nothing fancy like marble floors etc. but really nice... more

I've stayed at the Thomas Edison Inn twice in 2009 while in the area on business. To stay here is to step back in time -- back to the 1980s, when it seems that the hotel was last updated. You may or may not find this charming, but be prepared for old furniture and outdated styles. If that doesn't bother... more

My husband and I attended a wedding at this location and stayed the night. We had a room with a beautiful view of the lake. The rooms were clean, but the furniture needed some replacing. The queen bed was very uncomforatable. Just by looking at the bed when we walked in the room, we could see a bit of a... more

The Inn turned out to be above our expectations. We booked our room by phone the night before we arrived at Port Huron and, having read some of the critical comments in the reviews regarding the uncleanliness of the rooms, we specifically mentioned this as a concern during the reservation call. We were promised a nice, clean, room and this... more
