I was in Huron County for business which I am frequently. I don't usually write reviews but this was such an unexpectedly pleasant stay. The Holiday Inn (Bad Axe) was booked so I took the recommendation to go to Lake Vista. It was only an additional 10-15 mins down the road. I was not happy to have the extra time... More

This is a tough one cause I kinda liked the place and the nice morning staff. I can't say that for the night staff however. The night clerk was so clueless. I asked about the lighthouse and got nothing. I asked about the area and got nothing. I ask about the rooms and got nothing. It was kinda like talking... More

Our family of 6 plus 1 friend went to Port Huron. We looked on line for a place to vacation within a few hours of my daughter's friend. We took her with us. We all stayed in one of the cottages. It was great to be able to cook and grill our meals. There was enough room so we weren't... More

Their prices are steep if you compare them to the little motels we passed on the road, however our $199 room was easily big enough for six, and there was a full kitchen with table & chairs, coffee maker, microwave and full sized refrigerator. The living area had cable tv, sofa, rocker and recliner. There was a lovely view of... More

This place was in our travel directory and looked cozy and inviting from the outside: porches with chairs to sit on outside of every room, right by the waterfront. Room was basic, clean but overpriced with what we got. $110 which did not include continental breakfast . Now, the truth: We arrived and asked about renting a room for the... More

My sweetheart dragged me to this little town and I have to say..it does have an up north feel but is within an hour or 2 drive of northern Detroit area. WIth that being said, we checked some other places along the lake near Port Austin, and nothing was available. I was forced to pony up the $429 it cost... More

Having given this place a fair shake by reading all the other reviews, I can write an update for the 2013 stay. Pool has been updated and new towels have been purchased.........the rest remains "intact." Is clean and the lake is lovely. Period. The rule book remains and rule reminders are posted everywhere. No toys or drinks in the pool... More

Don't go here expecting anything approaching sophistication or luxury. Port Austin is a quiet little village, and so the accommodations match that. We stayed in one of the "deluxe" suites. There are two of them on the upper floor of a home next to the original property that they renovated. It's a very clean large room about half the floor.... More

When you check out they have you turn off the heat so when we arrived the room was cold and it took a while to heat up. The view of the waves on Lake Huron was great. The futon smelled musty. I called the front desk to see if there was any coffee and nobody called me back.

We had a great experience at the Lake Vista. We rented a cottage for 1 week; the cottage was spacious, had comfortable beds, the kitchen had everything you needed, there was plenty of room to move around. The courtyard was exceptionally well manicured. The beach area wasn't the best, but you only had to walk 100 yards to a wonderful... More
