We stayed here for 3 nights and the place is breathtakingly beautiful. I didn't give it 5 stars because we couldn't help but feel uncomfortable sometimes like we were intruding the family's home. We came back from dinner in town at 11pm one night and we had to keep knocking until we woke up one of the family members to... More

Brigitte Cariou, ex nurse, present owner and cook, manages a marvelous chateau with beautiful rooms, ultra clean surrounding and quiet atmosphere. Richest breakfast to be offered in France and the loveliest host you could find. Don't miss.

We had read the previous reviews about the Chateau and so our expectations were high, but Brigette and Philippe made our stay so good that our expectaions were far exceeded. We booked the Premium package stay but will not say any more because it will spoil the suprises. The Chateau and grounds are excellently maintained, and an easy walk to... More

The tricky bit is finding it! Maybe co-ordinates for the satnav would solve that one! Once there however, it's a wonderful building set in gorgeous grounds. There is a delightful air of slightly decayed elegance about the estate, which lends extra charm to the place. It has immense character and an interesting history, with splendid paintings and furniture. Lovely bedroom,... More

Wife and I just spent three wonderful nights at the Chateau. Bridget is wonderful, the Chateau just full of character, history as well as art and antiques. We will miss the wonderful breakfast served each morning in a gilded room with views of the grounds and pool. The rooms are what you would expect, large and full of character with... More

Our stay with Brigitte at the Chateau Saint-Martial was perfect. The Chateau is beautiful, very well facilitated and our room enormous with lovely furnishings and windows overlooking the pool/grounds. Very good breakfast including eggs which is unusual in France. We would highly recommend this accomodation. Thank you Brigitte!

We loved our stay, it was a quiet time of year, and we couldn't fault anything. The hostess was very helpful, gave good recommendations on the local area. It's completely unpretencious if you want a maid to wait on you it's probably not for you, it's more the style of a B&B in service.

A charming property that was until fairly recently the home of a Cognac magnate. Brigette and her husband maintain the chateaux faithfully in its original style and decor with beautiful artwork and tapestry hanging on the grand statircase walls. Our bedroom was massive with a perfect bed made with linen of the highest quality. Our bathroom was beautifully appointed and... More

We stayed here in May for two nights. The chateau is just gorgeous, authentic style and beautifully decorated. The house is adorned with stunningly fabulous oil paintings and antiques. Lovely gardens with pretty swimming pool. The owner Brigitte (and her husband) couldn't have been nicer, very accommodating, cheerful and helpful. Lovely bedroom with huge bathroom, scrupulously clean. Fantastic food, as... More

We went for my friends wedding in Jarnac and all stayed in the chateaux, when we turned around the corner, the first thing that struck us was there should have been a health and safety warning on the website warning us that you WILL trip over your jaw as it drops at first glance. On first looks, you think the... More
