We picked this Chateau as a base to visit La Rochelle and Bordeaux due to its ideal location. Situated amongst vineyards and forests the Chateau is a destination in itself. It is beautifully restored and the surrounds are delightful with rural outlooks and beautiful old outbuildings . The rooms are large ,comfortable and light. Sylvie is a delightful host who... More

It's difficult to find fault with the delightful Sylvie and her beautiful chateau, we went in May 2012 and, as always, we were treated like royalty! They were in the process of having the roof replaced, I dread to think of the cost! But a wonderful job by the artisans! Breakfast in now served in the cellar, and is even... More

What an amazing Chateau... 5 nights... Inc. breakfast on the lawn every morning, fab start to the day. Dinner taken on 2 nights very special ,offered an aperitif then some fine wines..nice to be made so very welcome in Sylvie's home. The Chateau was enchanting, the rooms tastefully decorated ... Lots of care has gone into making it appear so... More

This was our overnight stop enroute from Roscoff to the Languedec. The chatelaine could not have been more charming as we had hit a bit of a trauma with our travel arrangements. She sat us down with a glass of ice cold white wine (a locally made chardonnay which was better than any chardonnay we had tasted in a long... More

Our room, Eglantine, at the top of the chateau had exquisite views, lots of space and a large and comfortable bathroom. The atmosphere at this hotel is warm and inviting. The walls are covered in paintings done by Sylvie's mother. The rooms are full of well worn but beautiful antiques. We loved the four course candle-lit dinner every night. As... More

First went to the Chateau des Salles in 2004 when we were looking to buy a boat on the Gironde, the boat was a disaster, but the delightful Sylvie made our stay very pleasant, an the food is first class. Sat in the garden with nibbles and a bottle of Pineau Charantes off the estate absolute HEAVEN. We have been... More

A fantastic host who tries to make everything perfect. A beautiful chateau, lovely rooms and very good meals. Nothing is too much trouble for Sylvie the owner and all her family make you feel very welcome in their home. Local villages, the Gironde estuary and surrounding vineyards combine to provide plenty to see and explore without driving too far- lots... More

I stayed 2 nights in this heavenly home away from home ... (if only I could call a chateau my home!). Bedroom was charming. Bed very comfortable. Bath amenities top class (bathroom very stylishly modernised). Breakfast each morning in the lovely front garden with tea and croissants and fruit and... Our hostess Sylvie Couillaud, was very elegant and helpful. The... More

We picked the Chateau as a stop off point on our journey from Spain to Ireland. Having had some unpleasant hotel experiences in France, we were a little apprehensive. We need not have worried. We found the welcome, and the standard of accommodation to be first class. The Chateau is small with five guest rooms. Each room has a different... More

Wonderful location, sensitive restoration, with an elegant and very helpful owner. Meal was very tasty but a house kitchen. Wine, pineau and cognac from the estate.
