A truly amazing place to stay and the room was fit for royalty! Driving into the grounds was a great experience with peacocks adding to the wonder of the place. The hosts were most charming and friendly. Their love and enthusiasm for their home gave the place such a special feel and attention to detail cannot be faulted. Breakfast was... More

No internet/wifi. Poor SFR signal. No common room to chill out in. There is the breakfast area but it is musty, dark and it doesn't have comfy-looking reading chairs. The hostess told us to check the greenhouse but even though it was quite luxuriant it was not a place I'd go to read or hold a casual conversation. There are... More

We spent one week in The Bakery in October, 2013. We arrived late in the evening. Deer ran ahead of our vehicle in the headlights....the Chateau was lit up and looked like something out of a fairytale. Annick greeted us, beautiful beautiful Annick. In the morning we awoke to the sound of various animals and birds. We enjoyed a home... More

The Chateau de Pont Rilly was by far the most interesting and beautiful place we stayed on this three week European (Spain, Portugal, France) vacation. The host and hostess were friendly and helpful. There recommendations for dinner were excellent. The restored chateau is beautiful. We could have spent hours with Annike just talking about the restorations that she and her... More

My wife and I decided to visit Normandy in order to enjoy the nice region, food and to see the landing beaches and Mont Saint Michel. We looked for B&B at 'chateau's' and found Pont-Rilly and booked 2 nights. The place is amazing. A bit difficult to find - but when we arrived we were met by an impressive ally... More

In a word: fantastique. Stay here if you have the chance. The proprietors, Annick and Jean-Jacques Roucheray, are welcoming and the souls of kindness. The chateau is wonderful – lovingly restored over the 30 years since the Roucherays bought the estate. The rooms are well decorated, with attention to detail, and very comfortable. I slept soundly each night – and... More

Magnificent and calm in its impressiveness, the chateau is an unique experience and the palce place we visited in the Normandy so far. We arrived at a late evening and might have troubles to locate the places, as it is located deep off the road, just a small indication telling when to turn right. We were kept mesmerized approaching the... More

A friend had stayed here and came back almost speechless at what he saw and fumbled to describe how the owner had lovingly rendered this château back to its original state using archives, in order to help rebuild missing or damaged components using only the same local materials as hundreds of years ago. It stuck in the back of my... More

This is our second year we rent a gîte at the chateau. The settin is impressive, the decor of the houses is very welldone and there is everything youmay need. The park is full of peackocks, hens and chickens, a real pleasure for the kids. Owners are always there but not intrusive.

Amazing Chateau near Valognes, Normandy. Words can't describe well enough how beautiful this place is. The owners were very friendly and helpful (although only the lady, Annick speaks English). We stayed on the Orchid cottage, which is suitable for 6 persons; Or even 16, if there were enough beds (it's a huge 150 sqm). The beds, shower, linings, towels, kitchen,... More
