A truly relaxing stay helped by our lovely hosts Ian and Maureen. Wonderful service and fabulous food. The evening meal is four courses of delight. There is no choice but give Ian enough notice (I don't eat meat and we also have a 5yr old) and he produces a very enjoyable meal for all. Easily the best food we had... More

The Manoir is a gem of a place just a little off the beaten track...but well worth the effort of visiting. It's an imposing 16th C manor house set in its own extensive grounds and which has been impressively restored and tastefully refurbished. Our bedroom was large, quiet and relaxing with top quality antique and vintage furnishings and decorations and... More

This is a very special place in a quiet rural backwater just south of Bayeux. As soon as you turn off the road onto to the long gravel drive, guarded by two massive stone lions, you know you are in for a treat. The house is a grand stone manoir dating from the late 16th century, with an imposing facade... More

I cannot fault this amazing plAce. Wonderful service wonderful food and a perfect location with views to die for. Iain is a wonderful host and his cooking is amazing. We flew from Southend to Caen for a really easy journey.

The rooms are very comfortable. The manor has been well refurbished. They do not do dinner on Sundays and there are no local alternatives. The dinner we did have was good. There aren't really any other facilities. We were rather of the opinion that the enterprise was a vocation rather than a business although both principals are very pleasant. The... More

Simply outstanding on all fronts ( room, breakfast, dinner, location) Stunning location 25 mins from Caen & Bayeaux making it ideal for the beaches & museums. Only minor grumble would be Iffy wifi on top floor.

We stayed here for one night on our way back to Calais and wished we could have stayed longer it is a very interesting part of France and the hotel itself is delightful. Iain and Marion made us very welcome, our room was lovely with a huge bathroom. The highlight of our stay was the evening meal served in a... More

Its not really a fair comparison to have this in the hotel section of Trip Advisor. It felt much more like going to a good friend's house and having them prepare wonderful meals and make sure you are comfortable. Iain and Maureen made our family feel at home in an unassuming and unforced way and were a wealth of knowledge... More

This is everything you hope for in an inn in the French countryside. The home, the 40 some acres of surrounding farmland, the interior decorations, furniture, bouquets of fresh flowers, the fabulously talented hosts, Maureen and Iain, made our stay in Normandie unforgettable. Maureen is as discreet as you would ever wish but should you hanker for a tour of... More

We just returned from Le Manoir de la Riviere and for once I was not ready to return home. The hosts Maureen and Iain are wonderful, very attentive and discreet in the same time. They make you feel welcomed and ensure that your stay is the perfect one. The food is simply exquisite, the best we had in France for... More
