If you have only one chance to stay in the Normandy area, try to book this hotel/Inn. You won't be disappointed. Starting with the locale, it is in the countryside, about 25 minutes from the Beaches, and so quiet that your hearing suddenly feels strange. The grounds are beautifully kept with all manner of roses, flowering plants, mosses and grasses... More

A smart comfy hotel in a quiet village. We were on business in Caen but managed to squeeze in a quick visit to the Tapestry and Cathedral at Bayeux. The restaurant was good and we loved the bar with the log fire. Dog friendly too so we might bring them next time.

This hidden gem is in a tiny village 20 minutes outside the D-Day beach tour launch city of Bayeaux. What was once a family farm has been transformed into a lovely Inn with an amazing French Country Style restaurant. We ate dinner both nights at the restaurant, and it seemed like people came out of the woodwork to fill the... More

The Ferme de la Ranconniere (the Ferme hereafter) is a beautiful boutique hotel and restaurant in a restored medieval Norman farm complex. The buttery pierre de Caen stonework is complemented by lovely gardens and a secluded location between Bayeux and the coast along the D12. There are a variety of rooms from very simple bedrooms to suites spread among the... More

This is a lovely property which is a historic country manor with old stone buildings and lots of charm. Our room was large with a modern bathroom and elegantly decorated. The reason I am rating the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is that we found the food in the restaurant to be good but not outstanding as far as... More

So many aspects to cover writing about la Ferme de la Ranconnière that I will cover them separately. The buildings: a fine example of medieval architecture, the farm has been in the hands of the Ranconnière family since the 18th century. Beautiful main entrance archway leading to the inner courtyard and accessing the reception, rooms, bar and dinning room with... More

We have just returned from what was my 6th visit to La Ranconniere having visited over the past 17/18 years. It is a comfortable as ever. Our room, no. 19, was a junior suite and slept three easily. There was space for a table and four chairs as well as a smaller table and two leather tub chairs. We stayed... More

I initially planned on staying in Bayeux for my trip to the Normandy region of France. At the last moment I decided to take a look at the surrounding areas and I'm glad I did. This hotel was very nice sitting on the edge of the small town of Crepon about 20 minutes northeast of Bayeux. I was alone for... More

Absolutely gorgeous limestone buildings with pea stone courtyards and lovely gardens! Many buildings, several restaurants. Excellent breakfast buffet, amazing dinners, charming rooms filled with antiques and chandeliers. Good mattress. Electric kettle with coffee and tea. Bathroom had deep tub, no grab bars or rubber mat, vessel sink. CNN and BBC on TV, free wifi. Only negative was lack of space... More

We arrived late after a very disappointing experience in Roeun at the Mercure Hotel. My wife enquired ref availability was only offered a DBB rate for €165. As we have a 5 month old baby it's difficult for us to avail of the dinner together so my wife attended the diminish room alone while I remained in the room. The... More
