Saint-Cere for me was the end of a hiking trip through the Dordogne Valley, and I wanted a place that would be quiet, comfortable, and centrally located in town. This hotel was all three, with a terrific restaurant besides. Situated near a park (and a high school, so you'll share the park) and a stream that runs through town, where... More

Beautiful old building decorated inside in simplistic modern colours, very sophisticated but welcoming too. The staff were courteous and very friendly, and especially welcomed our dog. The food was well presented and well cooked. We had Magret (smoked duck) salad which was absolutely divine, followed by quasi veal which was again beautifully cooked and served with mashed potato and stuffed... More

The Hotel Victor Hugo is part of the Logis de France chain of family run hotels which we have used on our visits to France with consistantly good results. It is a good value hotel with helpful staff and an excellent restaurant, the food was very good indeed. We would use this hotel again.

Booked due to the failure of a hotel in nearby Beaulieu, this hotel turned out to be an excellent substitute. Part of the 'Logis' chain, the accommodation was of a good standard and the restaurant excellent. The proprietors were very helpful, speaking good english and readily assisting with local information. The hotel is situated by the river, just away from... More

A very welcoming comfortable hotel offering a good menu and friendly efficient service with meals served in the umbrella shaded forecourt on warm days. Monsieur speaks good English and was happy to adjust a menu choice when we asked. Our room was comfortable and overlooked a shady upper terrace where we sat in the evening. The hotel is located on... Room was ok but the bolster on the bed not comfortable and there was no other option. The bathroom really needed a proper clean. For less than 55 Euros for the room it was fine. Hosts friendly and helpful. Shame the restaurant was closed but the Brasserie we ate in was good.

A very typical French hotel in the delightful small town of St Cere where you will have a real welcome with fine food and wines, lovely setting to enjoy a relaxing meal, the owners most certainly know how to make their guests feel special, great place at the right price!

Spent 4 nights here, as a base for exploring the area. Rooms are basic but good value. Food outstanding. Manager very friendly and speaks English.

I celebrated my 30th birthday at this hotel in August this year with a meal with family - we were staying at a nearby campsite. All five of us agreed that the meal was one of the best we've had in any restaurant in France or at home. Not only was the food rich, beautifully presented and delicious; the staff... More
