We spent a delightful few days here and were given a very warm welcome by the owner, Alain, who was very helpful during our stay. This is a small hotel that has rebuilt its reputation after a previous owner let it slip, and the rooms are being progressively refurbished to high individual standards, so do check which suite or room... i always think this hotel is a great stopover with its swimming pool and gourmet restaurant but those travelling with me often hold it in even higher regard. Prices had risen a little this year 1.5% in euro terms which made it an even more attractive proposition. The standard three course menu is 30.90€ and offers very good value and... More

We stayed for 2 nights in July 2014. We took 2 of the standard rooms and were quite happy with the value they represented. We didn't eat in at night, but there is a very smart dining room, serving a standard menu. The hotel has a pool which is great for a town centre hotel, and we were very well... More

I had the misfortune to get sick (and I do mean sick!) on the trip my husband and I waited almost 30 years for. I could not travel to the places and (hotels) we had booked and on top of that it was a bank holiday in France and there were was NO availability or choice. My husband found this... More

You MUST stay here if you value great service, beautiful decor and fine dining. Alain and Claire make you so welcome, the Hotel is beautiful and the rooms cater for your every need. Then there's the restaurant, we had the best food we have ever eaten and drank superb champagne plus the special aperitifs that Alain and Claire offer each... More

Small, recently restored hotel in v. pleasant town on the Cher, run by a charming young couple happy to speak excellent English if your French isn't up to much. Excellent restaurant but pricey, but not so painful on the wallet on demi-pension terms. Good breakfast. Most comfortable rooms. Close to AutoRoute, and the lovely Amboise (Sunday market a must) and... More

We stayed here 4 nights to explore the area and see some chateaux. It is very convenient. Parking is to the rear, the restaurant (not open every night) is fabulous and well patronised (this is a small town). The owners do a great job running the show and were very helpful with our site seeing plans, etc. there is a... More

Stayed here for 1 night on business and indeed was pleasantly surprised. Welcome was warm and friendly and room was indeed spacious and very clean. Breakfast was sufficient and enjoyable also. Would indeed recommend. Cannot comment on restaurant as unfortunately was not available when I was staying. For negatives they are only small but walls are very thin and you... More

We have often stayed in this hotel when driving from Caen to the Alps for skiing. The hotel was taken over by new owners a year ago who have set about refurbishing the rooms to a high standard and making other improvements to this interesting old property . The restaurant has always been good and remains so. The staff all... More

Over the years we have been greeted by three owners of Le Cheval Blanc. 'Madam' retired a year or so ago and the hotel is now owned by a Belgian gentleman. The rooms have been refurbished and some are idiosyncratic (ours had the bath on a platform in the bedroom - not for everyone but we didn't mind). Very comfortable... More
