We have just very reluctantly left le Chateau de Fontenay in Bléré. The perfect location to visit both the Chateau de Chenoncau and Chambord and the lovely market town of Tour. After a long day driving and sightseeing we arrived in Fontenay to the warm welcome of Nathalie and Choco ( the perfectly behaved Border Collie). Everything is much more... More

We spent a fantastic week staying with friends in one of the beautiful cottages. It was well equipped and we really appreciated the great hospitality offered by Nathalie & Philippe. Being on a vineyard gave us a great opportunity to sample the delicious wines too. We also appreciated coming home to use the swimming pool having cycled locally during the... More

This is our third visit to Le Chateau de Fontenay. We stayed in Le Jardin and last week in La Closerie. Both are very tastefully decorated and comfortable. We stayed during a previous visit to the Empire Bed&Breakfast room which was beautifully decorated giving it a real luxurious feel. Breakfast the next morning was a real treat. Nathalie and Philippe... More

Our four night stay at Le Chateau de Fontenay was the highlight of our two week vacation in France. The property was beautiful and our room was very comfortable. What made our trip so special was that we were welcomed and treated like family or friends, as opposed to hotel guests -- so warmly and graciously. On arriving Nathalie had... More

We spent two nights at this lovely Chateau hosted by the equally lovely Nathalie and wished we had spend a few more nights. It is located in an excellent location to explore the eastern Loire chateaus and towns. Our room- Cupidon- was more than large enough for our family of three and had great views out back to the Cher.... More

What a wonderful stay we had at Chateau de Fontenay. Nathalie and her family were wonderful hosts and we felt very much at home in their lovely house. Nothing was too much trouble as we asked for advice on where to go and a lot of the Loire Valley chateaux were not far away. Breakfasts were great with lots of... More

The property is centrally located for all the things we wanted to see and do, and set in a beautiful location with vineyards, woods, and a river alongside which would make for lovely walks if we had been so inclined (we went mid-November when it was drizzly and chilly, but I think Spring/Summer would be stunning). They also have chickens... More

We stayed for a week in the room called Cupidon in the chateau, while others in our family had one of the cottages, 'La Closerie', to one side of the chateau. It's a beautiful setting with large grounds, including woodland and a vineyard, above the Cher, a tributary of the Loire. One of the best features is the lovely large... More

My husband and I returned last week from a nine night stay at this amazing chateau. We could not have picked a more perfect place! The chateau itself is lovely with beautiful, peaceful grounds to walk and a gorgeous terrace/pool area. Our hosts, Nathalie and her husband Philippe, were so very warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Nathalie even... More

Stayed six nights in September as a base for visiting the towns and chateaux of the upper Loire. Fontenay is a picture perfect chateau enhanced with extensive grounds and vineyards. The large outdoor terrace overlooking the pool was the venue for the typically French breakfast as the weather was wonderful and we also had several evening picnics there rather than... More
