Very friendly host who was attentive and helpful. Really clean and large rooms with a comfortable bed and free wi-fi. Fantastic setting with a long drive to the house - which is a little tricky in the dark. Good breakfast with really fresh croissants. Well worth a visit. The only downside was no TV in the bedroom.

We stayed for 3 nights in two adjoining rooms on the second floor, one double, one with a double plus a single bed in an alcove, each room with its own bathroom and separate loo. Bruno Clement, the owner of the chateau is very friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to eat (we had superb meals at L'Etape Gourmand... More

We recently stayed here for 4 nights and explored the chateaux of the Loire. We took three rooms, all of which were huge, comfortable and traditionally furnished. The bathrooms were delightfully old fashioned with baths and shower attachments rather than showers, the beds were incredibly comfy with beautiful fine cotton linen. At night it was completely silent and dark, the... More

Because it is in the middle of the countryside it is very quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. However, being in the middle of nowhere also means that you have to drive quite a while before you get to a restaurant, as lunch and dinner are not provided. Breakfast is eaten with anyone else who happens to be there at the as... More

After a long day of travel we turned up without a booking and were welcomed with an available room in this beautiful hidden gem. The owner provided exceptional service and was English speaking. Breakfast was included in the rate, which was served at the common dining table, served by the owner. A very unique experience for us traveling as a... More

I recently took my grandmother here for a few nights and we loved the experience. Mr. Clement was friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and very shabby chic. The grounds are great for exploration - from fields, duck ponds, treehouses that Mr. Clement also rents to guests, a pool for swimming, his uncle's farm next door (say hello to... More

The chateau du Vau is inhabited by the family who rents several rooms. The rooms are large and nicely furnished in the old style of the castle. The owner is around 45 years old and has retreated in this family house to host guests and is keen to give a personal welcome and will do the small talk upon arrival... More

We just got back from a night's stay in one of the brand new tree houses, situated in the grounds of Chateau du Vau, conveniently located about 10km from Tours and Villandry. And....we loved the whole experience! Contrary to some other reviews published on this site, we found the host to be absolutely charming and very welcoming and we liked... More

Chateau du Vau is in a great location to explore the Loire Valley. Bruno is friendly and helpful. The chateau has been in his family for generations. Their main business is as a farm - renting rooms is a secondary business. He's available to help with questions in the morning and at some times during the day. Our room was... More

Looking for a true experience of French hospitality to share with our children, we came across Chateau du Vau through the Alistair Sawday website. What a good choice! Not a corporate business hotel, not an "over-designed" place where we had to worry about whether or not our children were quiet enough..Just a genuine family welcome, relaxed and unfussy. We loved...
