I had spent hours trying to find the right place to stay for a stop over from Calais to Genoa. And eventually found Maison Niepce which, for us, was perfect in every way. maison Niepce is a beautiful old house with a beautiful garden. The bedrooms are sparsely furnished and old fashioned so, not a place for luxury stays. If you want atmosphere and a lovely hostess then this is for you. You can enjoy the gardens which are large and very restful.

We stopped here in December on our way to the Alps. A fantastic place full of atmosphere and history. We stayed in the salle de Niepce which was a very large suite on the top floor with plenty of room for us and our 3 children. Madame made us very welcome. We stayed at Maison Niepce on our Sawday guide inspired trip to the canal du midi. maison Niepce is a really important historic property once owned by the real inventor of photography Nicephore Niepce whose invention was improved by Dageurre.
