Walk into El Convento, and you are walking into a quiet oasis in the center of the city, about 2 blocks from the central square. Beautiful courtyard, elegant lobby, hotel. Great food in wonderful restaurant. You can have an expensive $16 lunch here, or pay just $5 for a sandwich. more

We booked two nights at this hotel, but ended up leaving after one night because there was no pool. The hotel is lovely and filled with gorgeous antiques. The rooms are big and roomy and have everythign you need. The restauarnt was outstanding, in fact, I would guess it is truly the best in town!!! But Leon is hot -... more

My room was full of ants, although the maid tried to get rid of them. It was a front room and the window/door had a big space under it. I asked for a garden interior room to avoid the street noise but none were available ,they said, yet the place seemed mostly empty. On the good side: the gardens and... more

the El Convento, as the name implies, began its life as a convent. the rooms surround a beautifully landscaped courtyard. The restaurant serves "gringo" food, rather than traditional Nicaraguan food. But the food is very good. Rooms are air conditioned. the restaurant has an air conditioned and also tables open to the air. The staff is lovely and attentive more

This was our second time at this hotel according to the reviews on this site we should have stayed at La Perla, however, we ignored this and stayed at El Convento. We were not disappointed. The rooms are a little dark but who wants to sit in them when there are such great public areas. The meals here are the... more

As part of week long trip in Nicaragua with Tours Nicaragua to see, climb and photograph many of its volcanos, I stayed two nights in El Convento. It is centrally located to the beautiful cathedral on the plaza. I went there twice to watch the sun set on its facade as school children from the second school shift sat around... more

My husband and I just returned from a 2 week trip to Nicaragua. I booked this hotel 7 months in advance because of the reviews on TripAdvisor. On a positive note the service was good, it is a great location, the breakfast was the most extensive we saw on the entire trip, and the garden area was very beautiful. BUT,... more

The grounds are very nice. Peaceful and secure, even though you are downtown it is quiet inside the facilities. Breakfast was much better than would normally be expected. They had some pastry that I ate way to many of. The room itself was probably just slightly better than you would expect at a motel in the states but much better... more

We recently stayed at Hotel El Convento on our first 2 nights out of a 9 day stay in Nicaragua. It was a perfect introduction to the country! The hotel itself, an old convent for friars, was a beautiful building with a peaceful air about it. The courtyard is gorgeous and the halls are filled with different pieces of furniture,... more

Although this hotel is in the centre of Leon it is set in a quite side street and their is no noise. The hotel is a converted convent with rooms on three sides and a beautiful garden in the centre. The rooms were spacious and clean and well equipped and the air conditioning worked very efficiently. The restaurant overlooked the... more
