I really enjoyed the layout of this hostel. The gardens in the center were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and responsive if there was a situation that needed attending to (our shared bathroom was accidentally kept locked on the other end by our neighbor). The price seemed about right for the room that we stayed in. The... More

This hostel was great!! Small but it still met really nice people, comfy beds, nice sitting area and such good prices. Perfect location too I found it a lot better than the location of other hostels I had stayed in in Leon. Really good kitchen too with plenty of space for cooking, nice staff who speak English very well and... More

The staff was very friendly and helpful when problems arose [locked out of private bathroom/no running water]. The facilities are okay, nothing special. The main building's kitchen is pretty well-stocked with cooking materials. The overall feel of the main building hostel is rather dark and a little shut-in, but there is a small courtyard that makes it much nicer. There... More

We stayed here for two nights recently and while the experience overall was okay, we paid a bit of a premium for it. Between four of us, we had two rooms with a shared bathroom in the Sonati tours building over the road from the actual hostel. The beds were comfortable and the fan worked well; however the bathroom was... More

My time at Sonati was like heaven. The staff were brilliant (friendly, inclusive, fun - the list could go on), the location was perfect (close to all the things worth seeing), the tours they provided were incredible and fairly priced, the dorms were clean and well decorated, and it was full of interesting, like-minded travellers from lots of different cultures.... After seeing the photos on Sonati's website of their hostel in Leon, we had expectations of a clean and comfortable night's sleep. My boyfriend and I stayed only one night in Leon in transit from Salinas Grandes to Playa Guasacaste. We stayed in a private room with attached bathroom in their second building. The room did not reflect the photos... More

Although we stayed in a private room on their second property, which was dismal, we found ourselves at their original property more often as this is where there's more life, space and a generally nicer vibe going on. The rooms aren't very clean. The communal kitchen and seating area outside is good. Their property is really close to the markets,... More

My decision to stay here was influenced by their very complete website that portrayed an attractive hostel that served as a base for a diverse range of activities offered by the organization. I stayed in a single private room in the annex. It was barely adequate and not too clean. The kitchen in the annex was poorly equipped. The situation... More

Sonati is so relaxed that they forget to clean and properly check. The kitchen and whole place is dirty and the room was very dirty with a huge dead cockroach behind the toilet, a fan with weeks if not months of black stuff hanging from it and worst of all: bugs!!! After a long sleepless and very itchy night I... More

The hostel was great for the price you pay. The kitchen was big and great for cooking dinner/breakfast, with the market located closely nearby. If you would like to relax, this hostel is great, with many older travellers staying here. If you are after a party hostel then perhaps around the corner would be better suited to you. We stayed...
