My sister and I stayed here for a night when we visited Mary and Merv. I was glad we only stayed one night here, as the rooms here are very drab, and not too clean either. The beds were comfy, and the bedding was clean, but the rest of the room was very downtrodden, stains on carpets and walls, cigarette... More

Some of the reviewers here may have their hotels mixed up. The Margush indeed is an older hotel, the Hotel Mary Myhmanhanasy on the other hand is new. It does not help that Tripadvisor has never heard of it This is a very opulent hotel in the style of the East. All marble and gilt with Turkmeni carpets and silk... More

Pretty much the only option for most visitors to the area this hotel is very much in the vainglorious style currently popular here. So expect lots of empty space, marble and gilt...but not a great deal of substance. Everything in the room worked, and the indoor pool was open. As the hotel is very new it was not a great... More

There is a brand spanking marble edifice in Mary now which will cater for group tours and package holidays and those who only stay in hotels. Meanwhile travellers I suspect will continue to stay here. Again as I came here after days in the desert I found this hotel friendly, clean and the staff helpful. Rooms were comfortable although a little... More

So having read the reviews we were not really looking forward to our stay here on a group tour we had booked. However it is nowhere near as bad as some are saying. Rooms are a bit tatty, carpets are old and a bit stained, however it was clean and the beds were comfy. We had joked about wanting to... More

I'm really surprised at most of the reviews on here, did they stay in the same hotel? It's definitely not "excellent" but far from horrible! Mary doesn't have that many hotels so you'll have very little choice, the same goes for restaurants in the nearby area. The rooms were ok, but the best space is the entrance where you can... More

I stayed here for two nights while on a group tour. We arrived very late after a rough day, and the room was totally dysfunctional. The bed lacked a top sheet between the nasty comforter and bottom sheet. The carpet was covered in cigarette burns. There was no direct window but an awkward shared, closed balcony. The bathroom had literally... More

The largest room is a single queen or two single beds (smaller than a twin). For a family of 4 (two adults, two children) we had to get 2 rooms. The doors do not have a dead bolt. If someone has a key, they can get in. We were in rooms 209 and 208. The ceilings have water damage. The... More

I would surely like to know who wrote the "average" and WHAT "very good" reviews, because I can't imagine anyone saying those things thinking they were the truth. I have stayed in $15 a night hotels in Thailand, Mexico,Turkey and many hostels all over the world, including Russia, and the Stan's and compared to this dreadful, dirty, stinky place they... More

I guess this is a typical soviet era hotel. Enormous building, made to impress (which is does as the streets are very wide and there aren't a lot of buildings in the neighbourhood). The food is also soviet style (which I personally like; if you want to eat European food visit Europe, if you want soviet style food, visit Turkmenistan).... More
