Like most other adjacent buildings, they look great from the outside, especially at night, but are rather substandard inside. The rooms are modest comparable to a western guest house. The lobby, however, had a grandiose allure. The hotel was ok on local standards and probably one of the best in town. Turkmenistan has many absurd laws, one of them is... More

In fairness to Mary, there are not a whole lot of options available - this hotel was able to provide a comfortable bed at the end of a long hot day. The shower was pretty poor with limited hot water and the doors didn't close, so the bathroom floor got drowned. Breakfast wasn't fantastic and the prayer calls from the... More

The lobby was probably the best part - light and airy, cleaner than the rooms, with a high, barrel-vaulted ceiling. We travelled with a group so do not know the cost for the room, but whatever it was, it was too much! Our second-floor room had a very dirty carpet, a hard bed with awful bedding which did not fit.... More

Hotel looks good but is falling to pieces. impressive atrium and entrance but very ordinary bedroom. The shower doesnt work and water just trickles out of the tap and goes over the floor. The towels had holes in them, central heating and lift didnt work. Half! bottles of shampoo. beds hard as rocks. In the downstair loo the tap came... More

All front, no substance. Grand entrance, sub-standard rooms and service. The lift worked only once then died. Do not ask for a second coffee at breakfast, because it's not included. Our bathroom was a challenge, loo would not flush if the shower was going. Very noisy at night, especially when there are drunken guests in the foyer.

Modern hotel, but with some pretty grotty rooms - very noisy air con and some rooms don't have curtains. Moderately clean and a good restaurant. Decent breakfast. You are only likely to stay one night so it's perfectly OK

Unfortunately, this seems to be the only hotel in Mary right now - a big new one is under construction. If you have to go there before that is ready, maybe try to find a homestay instead. This hotel is next to the museum and with views of the big mosque - the only things going for it. Although it... More

The facade of the hotel is grandiose but once inside, big empty cold lobby. In the room, never seen such an old and dirty carpet. Smelly room with small AC vent giving out little air flow. Linen frayed and old. Flimsy shower rod with curtain going only part way which means getting floor all wet. Can't remember worse hotel. Didn't... More

No doubt the best hotel that Mary has to offer, and it does have some decent plus points, including a very convenient location (right next to the museum and backing onto a small river), a swimming pool (even better when there is water in it...) and good views of the mosque. However, this is Turkmenistan, so you can expect external... More

The rooms were okay (a decent size) but the air conditioning wasn't powerful/effective enough and when you had a shower the whole bathroom got soaked... In terms of the lobby restaurant/bar.... The included breakfast was very average (a cold boiled egg, some dry bread, some cold meats and one tea or coffee) and the waitresses were sullen. As we'd arrived... More
