Great location on the beautiful beach. Fernando's bar has a nice ambience. Here it stops. Our room was wore down, dark, uncomfortable mattress, disgusting bathroom, cockroaches... We checked out earlier than planned, although the room was already paid for. The staff was nice, but the service was very slow.

Caves are cheap and fun but only for a short stay! Nice beach front location, get to use all the facilities including pool, deck chairs etc. however they had no recollection of my booking (ok as caves were free) but this also occurred with families in rooms who were then sent away! Service at the bar/restaurant is shockingly poor, waited... More

We stayed for one night in one of the A/C rooms. We saw the hotel at Agoda, but we thought it was too expensive, but when we asked the receptionist, it was cheaper than it was on the Agoda website. The pool and the hammocks are great, it is a great place to just relax and swim in the sea... More

Stayed here for 1 night and I loved it. To be fair, the backpacker caves are nice but back to basic, which I kind of like. Lovely bar with good chilled music and great opportunity to meet people. Service is a bit so so and public showers are a bit dirty. Highgly recommendable for backpackers

We stayed at Aqua Hotel for our last night in Uppuveli because we liked the chilled atmosphere at Fernando's Bar. But the rooms are horrible (a/c or fan) very old with disgusting showers. The bar is good to have a beer but DON'T EAT the food is very bad. Go to Palms beach instead.

Rooms are nice and clean. There are also special "backpacker caves". Perfect beach bar, tasty food and good service. Cool chilling spot with great music and interesting people. Definitely place to recommend! We would love to stay longer...

We had 2 nights here whilst on our backpacking trip around Sri Lanka. We were staying somewhere else further down the beach prior to coming here. We enquired about the price and were given the rates. We agreed to come the following day once we had checked out of our other hotel. When we arrived a gentleman gave us a... More

Loved Uppeveli and the vibe at Aqua. Yes, the rooms are a bit tired, but it's one the beach and has a pool. And hobbit holes to sleep in if you're on a budget (yes, they actually are hobbit holes..) The most important thing is Fernandos bar and the hangout place here. It gives the place a great hostel vibe,... More

Me and my wife stayed here for 2 days. Our stay was a pleasant memory for us. Friendly staff and tranquil atmosphere, we could easily listen to waves in early mornings. No mosquitoes, even though there was mosquitoes net. Our room was neat and clean, we had a little problem with the tap, but they managed to fix immediately. Our... More

First of all, I recommend all people who come to Sri Lanka to stay in Uppuveli (as opposed to Nilaveli or Trinco). And while you're in Uppevelli, if you are looking for a fun and affordable place to stay, please stay here! This place has the well-cultivated vibe of a vibrant hostel, while giving guests the opportunity to have their... More
