The engineers to this building must have not been educated to facilitating any form of insulation or cooling whilst building this structure. The concrete just keeps in an exacerbates the heat. Its actually hotter in the room than outside. Turning on the fan doesn't quite help. Rather it makes it into a fan forced oven to which you be slow... More

I think that for the price of 2500 rs/night per 2 was OK. In Trincomale we found everything (for a budget traveller) more expensive than elsewhere in Sri Lanka. The staff was nice, room was clean. It was way better than their neighbours, French divers, who have really bad rooms for 2000 rs. When we came from their place to... More

First we had a look at the "coconut lounge" but this was much too expensive for what you get. So we tried it in "shivas guesthouse" where the stuff was nice. The price was okay (3000 rs without breakfast) the room was clean, the sheets were okay to sleep in and the bathroom was big (only cold water but ist... More

The rooms are big and fairly clean. For one night it was ok. Anyway the not at all negotiable 3500 rupees for the AC room were too much for the standard. The staff was not too friendly but you got what you need. Especially in the attached restaurant with a nice view along the beach the service was pretty unfriendly... More

Wanted to stay at Coconut Beach Lodge next door, which was full so we settled with three nights at this hotel. In general average hotel with clean spacious room. We did not have any bad experience with staff, even though their English was very bad. Location is perfect right at the Beach front. We loved that so much. On a... More

Stayed here rather unexpectedly because all the other places in Uppuveli were full. Basic room with fans and mosquito net but the mosquito net was too small to fit over the bed so we had to install our own... Comfortable beds though, bathroom clean and functional. Price was okay, not dirt cheap but just okay. We did catch a cockroach... More

After searching for hours of a guest house on the beach, we finally arrived here and they really saved us! The manager was really nice and helped us out so much! The rooms are not the nicest, but they are ok and right on the beach. The restaurant that belongs to the guest house is right in front of it... More

Arrived here after searching for a while for a good room. Rooms looked OK, nothing special, price was fair if you compare it to others. Because two of us waited at a restaurant we asked the manager if we could make a reservation for the rooms and that we would be back in less than half an hour. It wasn't... More

Ok so we looked at most of the places on this strip of beach. We payed 3000rp walk in rate for room with fan, which was okay. We couldn't find any nicer looking at comparable prices. The staff tries to be friendly, but quite often fail at it. We stayed for 5 nights, and they never cleaned our room or... More

We didn't stay at Shiva's, only had lunch there a couple of times. The food was very good and the location is quite nice as it is located directly at the beach. We had 5 different dishes and all very excellent. The best were the grilled big prawns. Make sure to ask for them as they don't have them every... More
