We stayed at the Thoulasith for two nights in January, 2010. At the time, the Thoulasith was brand-new, and we'd seen a small poster for it posted at the border crossing from China. However, we'd already planned to stay at Zuela so on our initial stop in Luang Namtha we didn't look at Thoulasith. After a two-day trip to Muang... More

That place was OK for what I asked - one night before trekking and one night after - but on my last day, I booked through them a bus ticket to Huay Xai. They didn't speak much English except for a younger dude who confirmed it was OK several times after I insisted. The next morning, 5 minutes before my... More

I booked the deluxe so I could have the bath as I planned to participate in lots of physical activity and wanted to luxury of a bath to relax in at the end of the day. Wrong!!! This place uses solar hot water and whilst your shower does heat up after a few minutes there is not enough hot water... More

Stayed here for two nights for 100,000 kip. Overall it was ok, the end rooms were much larger and better value than the smaller inner rooms (for 20,000 more). All had tv with cable, the option of air-con (extra 25,000) and windows out to the courtyard. End rooms offered coffee/tea/water cooler. Found the bathrooms varied considerably between rooms – some... More

We stayed 3 nights in this clean and nice GH well situated but set back from the main road. The owner and his wife are very helpful but his son is very suspicious!!! We used 2 side by side rooms ( a large one with a big bath and a second one cheaper with a shower) for 150.000kips. It seems... More

This is a gem of a guest house - it is spotless and rooms come with private bathrooms and optional A/C. They looked after my bag overnight while I did a trek and there is a lovely communal balcony for meeting others. Very slight downside is that not all staff speak a lot of english and I ended up booking... More

Nice guesthouse in the very center of Luang Namtha. The guesthouse has nice garden and the rooms are away from the street, though there is not much noise in this town. The rooms are bright and clean and they are worth their value and more. Because this is quite remote place, then most of the guesthouses are little bit cheaper,... More

We stayed at Toulasith , we had booked a room for 70.000kip and when we arrived room was not available any more. We could negotiate for a room at 100.000 for the price of 80.000kip. Concerning shower, it's a solar system so very good because eco friendly but we did not manage to have hot shower in 2 days. So... More

Luang Nam Tha is a good place for trekking and visiting minority villages. Hotel centrally located close to trekking centres and the night market. Pleasant garden away from bustling town. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. No breakfast so eat at nextdoor Minority Restaurant for excellent good value food. Minority Restaurant also offers kyaking and river trips. We took a day's motor... More
