It is definitely not easy to make it out to this part of Japan, but for those who make the effort and get all the way out here, you will not be disappointed. The villas are beautiful, peaceful and secluded. If you want privacy and a place to relax get away from it all, this is the place to be.... More

It was not easy traveling to Taketomi Island from Naha. But once we arrived there, our tiredness from the journey melted away instantly. We found ourselves the only foreigners there, most of the house guests were Japanese. Some of the staff speak good English. The villas were beautiful, the food and Awamori were sublime, service was excellent, we totally enjoyed... More

Went in late September with pregnant wife and 2 year old son for 2 nights. It's a very nice resort with high standards and impeccable service. The pool is amazing and they have all sorts of floats you can borrow for free. The main house is very chilled with juices and books you can go through. They have traditional Okinawan... More

The hotel/resort was built within a conversation area. The rooms were spacious and very new and clean. Being in a national park, you are surrounding by all sorts of birds and wildlife. The resort itself is stunning. Service was excellent all round. Would recommend taking their bicycles out to the small villages during the day. Hardly any one goes out... More

We stayed here for 5 days whilst taking a break from travelling around mainland Japan. We enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the simple life this hotel and island have to offer, you do have really create your own activities here..such as biking, swimming, walking, butterfly watching and eating.. The hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful. The hotel... More

The hotel was marvelously designed with a large heated pool in the center. The hotel location was a bit inconvenient - it was somewhat far from the major beaches and the town center. We rented bicycles (reservation req'd - just call the front desk in advance) to go around the island. It only took us 2-3 hrs to see the... More

Hoshinoya Resorts have gone to tremendous lengths to recreate a typical Okinawan/Taketomi village of almost 50 villas, fitted out in luxurious Japanese style. I must say that we particularly enjoyed relaxing in the villa and using the pool, including my daughter (almost 4) which is one of the primary objectives of staying in a resort such as this. The daily... More

We stayed there for two nights in June, 2013. The hotel is located in Taketomi Island of Okinawa. Facilities: The villa is built according to the traditional houses on that island. A lot of glassed doors that can open up and he breeze can pass through the villa, but you do not have privacy as the fense is too low... More

We really enjoyed the experience in this japanese style hotel. Beautiful little houses in Taketomi style, now it's possible also to dine at the village taking the resort bus (last one back at 21:30) and we had no problem with reservation at restaurant (quite expensive but very good) or dining in the room. With the free bicycle you can go... More

Taketomi island has always been one of the places to visit near Ishigaki. My GF and I stayed there the second time spending two nights, enjoying its beautiful landscape, tranquility and great food. Hoshinoya, as it's known to be the best "ryokan" chain in Japan, does live up to its standards when it comes to service and quality. The villa... More
