What was once a beautiful place is now showing signs of neglect and in desperate need of attention. I am afraid to say we did not stay. The standard of hygiene, appearance, decor and reception was unacceptable for an advertised place in which to stay. If it were a "back packers" I might have understood! We mentioned to Owner Louis... What an interesting, charming venue. Louis was very talkative and attended to us personally. He was happy to show us around the entire establishment, very proud of his own handiwork. The garden is large and planted with numerous beautiful plants. All it needed was some rain to turn it into a flower paradise. We had lunch there on Monday and... More

Stayed at Berlyn Peacock. Wasn't too sure what we had come to . Met by a very friendly gent { Louis}.Couldn't have been more helpful. His rooms spotless and smelt very clean. Staff most helpful and honest. Its a grand old homestead. Meals were nice, big servings.Breakfast was big, nice fruit salad from local fruits. This place needs more guests, seems all... More

After 9 years we were able to visit and stay here overnight on our way to Hazyview. This is a really gorgeous place to stay, Louis, the owner is such a brilliant cook and host. The rooms are needing a little work but are still unique in the way they are styled. this was our third stay with Louis in... More

A little way out of Graskop, you will find the Berlyn Peacock Tavern - easy to find and worth what you pay for. The place needs a bit of work (the shower wasn't the best) so don't expect a 5-star experience at a 3-star B&B but our host, Louis does his best to make you feel comfortable and at ease... More

The food was very good, Louis is a very good host and Bertha manages the kitchen and rooms. It was very... More

Our stay was perfectly comfortable, and not quite like a hotel, which it isn't. As a guesthouse, I cannot complain much about the rooms, which were quaint, and the host was attentive and provided enjoyable home-cooked dinners and breakfasts. The living room and bar area seems rather unkempt and disorganized, and need some housekeeping ( we had to help ourselves... More

After booking accommodation and confirming with the owner we arrived at 5pm on the evening of our stay to find the building locked up and no one home. The garden was messy and had dog filth everywhere and after 2 calls to the owner (who assued us that he was only 20 minutes away) and an hour's wait we decided... More
