We spent 2 nights in Zur Alten. It was the perfect place to visit the area. Our cottage was so well equipped with the kitchen, the fireplace and the wonderful terrace with a view on the lake. Johan welcomed us and adviced us on the main highlights in the area. He gave us a map with restaurant recommendations. Everything was... More

Zur Alten Mine has lovely, quiet grounds and a small hike through the woods and along a creek. It's in very good proximity to Graskop and the Panorama Route. The owners were very nice and it's a very comfortable place to stay. I would make only two minor suggestions to make it an excellent review- 1. Have a top sheet... More

The accommodation is in individual chalets, we felt ours was basic but adequate and good value. Rainer was very helpful indeed and gave excellent advise on visiting sites and booked us a first class restaurant for dinner, The Glasshouse.

The location is perfect for the Panorama route, great hikes, and beautiful scenery close by. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgable about the area and gave great tips. The chalet we had was very nice, spacious, clean, and well equipped and we loved 'braaiing' on our veranda with a great view. We would absolutely recommend this place to our... More

We can do nothing else but add another 5 star rating to this accommodation. The location is great and the grounds are lovely and well maintained. The honeymoon suite kitchen was equipped with everything you can imagine, even some things we don't even have at home! The bathroom was great and the hospitality unmatched. We made fires inside and out... More

We had an incredible time at Zur Alten, never to be forgotten. Our host was fantastic and gave us great advice about where to eat and hike in the area. We were welcomed with a small bottle of chamaigne in our honeymonn suite which was equiped with a little fireplace and a romantic seating area for us to dine together.... More

This little gem is located in a beautiful setting, allowing for private accommodation with beautiful views. The cottages are clean and well-equipped and offer real value-for-money! Rainer & Walli are excellent hosts who appreciate your privacy but offered kind assistance and recommendations when asked. This was a great family get-away and we'll definitely come and visit again!

Constant supply of fire wood and homemade rusks! Our cottage was comfortable and welcoming. Stunning drive to and from town and a great place to stay while venturing out to the famous sights and views. Excellent value. Our hosts were highly accommodating and considerate.
