The setting is spectacular, overlooking the canyon, the staff friendly and well trained. But I will not return because the last 19 km of the road is atrocious. Corrugated, with embedded stones, including some sharp ones. This road has not been graded for a long time. It took us an hour to cover 19 km. A nasty surprise after a... More

Just go. Two nights as Fish River Lodge is a long drive from anywhere - but well worth it. The view will blow you away. Whether you go for a stroll on the edge of the canyon or explore further down the landscape is awesome. The rooms are lovely. Food amazing. Staff incredible. And the singing!!

What an amazing view of the canyon! The rooms are impeccable with a shower outside overlooking the canyon. Lovely staff, very friendly and loved the evening performance! Excellent dinner, I wasn't a fan of game meat, but the lodge made me change my mind! The drive down the canyon was great, very beautiful and the guide was very good too!... More

The journey to get to this lodge is long and the distance from the main road to the lodge is 19km of very bumpy road. I mention this only to tell you to go ahead and book yourself in for 2 nights - you will not be disappointed. The little chalets appear minimalist but are stylish and include an outdoor... More

The hotel is spectacularly situated on the west side of the canyon with wonderful views and lovely walks. The food was also very good. We thought that meals were slow in starting until we discovered that the clocks in Namibia are 1 hour behind SA.

We arrived very late on our stay, but we were welcomed by very friendly staff. We were shown our rooms and taken to the dinner hall. The decor was great and homey with fireplaces. The staff were very proffessional, but lacked a bit of personality to be honest. The dinner was spectacular and very tasty. The room was decorated very... More

Our three August 2014 days and nights at the lodge was full of contradictions. The location, view, architecture, linen, coffee, canyon walks and bar service was excellent. If those were the only things that mattered in a 5 star hotel I would have rated the lodge a 5 plus. However, instead of giving a 5 I now need to decide... More

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for your feedback, and for still rating us a four star experience, even though you did rightfully note some contradictions in the Lodge. We do apologise that your full experience was not five star. Just for your information, nowhere in our literature do we describe ourselves as a luxury five-star establishment. Rather we are keen... We spent 2 nights the Fish River Lodge in the Fish River Canyon in Namibia. The lodge is perched at the edge of the Fish River Canyon which is quite spectacular. The staff are friendly and obliging. The food was good and the excursions offered were extremely enjoyable and interesting. The rooms are pretty basic but are very clean, with... More

We stayed for 2 nights two weeks ago and whilst the view was absolutely amazing, the lack of heating in both the bedrooms and common areas was much to desired. Even though the lounge/dining room had two fireplaces they were not lit during the day and when they were did not provide sufficient warmth. The rooms were so cold that... More

Dear Valued Guest, The Fish River Canyon can experience extremes in temperature at certain time of the year due its location in southern Namibia. Unfortunately being in a remote location and off the grid, we are not able to provide central heating. We are so sorry that you were uncomfortable during one of the cold fronts heading north from the... More

Great location and view for sure. But, one thing not mentioned on website is the constant winter wind due to its location on the edge of canyon. Plus low temperatures make for colder windchill. Rooms have no heating of any kind so once you get back to your room romance is killed instantly due to freezing room temperature. Morning showers... More

Dear Valued Guest We are very sorry that you experienced a cold spell during your stay at Fish River Lodge. The southern part of Namibia is known for extremes in temperature during certain months of the year - and in winter, when cold fronts from the Cape hit the canyon, the temperatures can plummet on occasion. As the Lodge is... More
