The camp management (Willy & Nandi) made this stay! They radiate enjoyment of their careers. The camp is at ground level looking out at a waterhole and the rooms have been renovated. The common areas are more traditional. Being escorted to your room at night by someone toting a rifle does wonders to impress upon you your potential nearness to... More

We spent 2 nights at Ongava Tented Camp at the beginning of May 2013. It is a great camp with a great staff, very friendly, very comfortable and great food. I would highly recommend this camp near the Anderson Gate just outside the Etosha Game Reserve.

This was Stop No 6 (of 8) on our self-drive road trip around Namibia. Arrived here around 14.00 (ish) after quite a drive up from Mowani Mountain Camp (Twyelfontein) via Khorixas, then the C.35 D3236. D2666, D2694, D2710 to the C.38 - an easy tarmac road all the way North to Andersons' gate. Ongava Reserve is within spitting distance of... More

Well designed tents with all amenities but no bed nets provided and while there is no malaria in the area, there are still mosquitos that have that irritating noise during the night and tendency to bite - despite spraying the room early evening. The animals come so close by on their way to and from the waterhole which is great.... More

Ongava Tented Camp is a truly special little camp and we are delighted that PietreLondon enjoyed their stay there. The water hole is a major attraction here and this certainly keeps the staff on their toes with many a night having the local pride of lion prowling through the camp. The management of the Ongava Reserve is looking into the... More

Our travel agent advised us that Ongava was "a little adventurous". We weren't entirely sure what to expect and so approached the camp with interest! It turned out to be the highlight of our trip in Namibia! We were met at the car park by the new management team, with ice-cold face cloths and a warm welcome. The camp is... More

November can turn the Etosha area into a Death Valley hell hole...granted, the management can't control the weather, but when it's 95 degrees in the virtually non-existent shade, it's 110 degrees in your sunny tent during midday, & you've nowhere else to hang out. Thatch the ceilings and GIVE THE POOR GUESTS AN ICE BUCKET AND A PORTABLE FAN THAT... More

Thank you Hotelcritic for your valuable feedback and suggestions. You are quite correct, Namibia is very hot during the summer months and this passed season, in particular, has been especially so, as we have experienced very little rain. The tip of using wet towels is a good one and kikoi’s are a really fantastic item to travel with for this... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The tents were very spacious. Sylvia the Manageress was very warm, welcoming and helpful. The managers took their turn to dine with the guests, which was a nice touch. The camp water hole was frequented by plenty of wildlife - zebra, springbok, impala and giraffe every day. We even... We had only one full day at Ongava and were blown away by our guide Rio's ability to get us to see all the animals we wanted -- white and black rhino, elephants, giraffes etc. Then he finished the day with 6 lion cubs sitting with us and playing in front of the land rover until we finally had to... We stayed in 3 different Wilderness safari camps in Namibia and this wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst. I must admit I wasn't sure whether to give it a 'very good' or 'average'. Maybe safari camps in Namibia are a bit different from the rest of southern Africa. They certainly are not over the top luxurious as... More
