What a wonderful camp. We stayed here for 4 nights flying in from Cape Town and driving in from Windhoek. Built right against a waterhole, we saw giraffe, rhino, waterbuck, kudu, zebra and all kinds of buck. By night the lions came and walked past the tents pretty well every night. Plus a lion kill only a few minutes away!... More

My wife and I spent two nights here in July 2014 immediately after staying at Okaukuejo. We can't speak highly enough of the staff - very friendly, keen to chat and did everything that they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. In particular, our guide, Bono, was very , very good and worked hard for us to... More

A 2 night stay with a family of 6. A good 4 star camp. Staff warm, friendly and will try and meet any request. We found the food very basic but tasty and fresh. Safari dinner was lovely but our packed lunch for the day in Etosha was a let down. Tents don't offer a lot of privacy. They are... More

goldenjays, wonderful to note that you enjyed the visit to Ongava Tented Camp, especially the the interactions with and company of our lovely camp staff, the good food and great game viewing. The tents are located 8-10 meters apart (except for the family unit) and on occasion the sounds from guests in neighbouring tents can be heard but this is... More

Just spent 2 nights at the camp. We arrived late the 1st day having driven from dora noras, part of the aame wilderness group. This is an inclusive resort and we set of on a late afternoon safari in their private reserve. Had great sighting of rhinos, and sundowner and sunset seeing a group of moving giraffes was special. Dinner... More

The Ongava Tented camp is situated within the Ongava Game Reserve a little south of the Etosha National Park. I spent two wonderful nights at the tented camp and it is just that - albeit quite luxurious (I love the hot water bottles in the bed each night). The tents have all the trapping you expect, and are very nice,... More

It was our last Wilderness camp we had not seen or visited in Namiba and as awalys, Wilderness came out tops of all companies having more than 1 top accomodation facility in Namibia! Service, proffessionality, friendliness of staff, price-value-relationship is unbeatable! We'll be back!

Best part of this camp is the water hole in the camp itself-- we saw lions, rhinos and giraffes right outside our rooms. The staff, especially Festus, are super friendly, and the camp has wifi which is quite rare! Unfortunately we didn't find the game viewing very impressive-- it was best in Ongava (lots of rhinos) but once we got... More

Recently spent 3 nights at Ongava Tented Camp. What a wonderful experience. Tent was extremely comfortable. Staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble, even baked me gluten free chocolate cookies and bread. Wonderful experience to sit so close to a water hole and watch the animals.

Exceptional experience in this camp, the staff was super experience and friendly, we saw a lot of great animals. The water hole right in front of the camp was brilliant, we saw many animals walking very close by. The room was nice and clean, although food was fairly simple. The only little problem we had was the smell in our... More

We have been in 4 Wilderness Camps, and this was the worst by a mile. Unfriendly staff (apart from Adolf), food is basic and the guide was lost. Again, i am only comparing Ongava with other camps and they need to do a lot of catch up. The timing is bad, you leave late for the game drives and will... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas; the family unit sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.Ongava's proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the National Park and on the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and spending time in hides. Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino. ... more   less
