This, to me, is a step down from Okaukuejo lodge. The location and the service were comparable, but the room was smaller and we had a power cut. The waterhole was a bit far from the viewing area, which in itself is quite small so people just needed to move around and found a rock to sit on. The variety... more

Cramped room - could hardly open the door without it hitting the bed - but it was clean. Food awful. Great waterhole more

The main draw of halali is the water hole, where you can watch every possible animal of Etosha with a beer and watching the countryside. The little huts were great in terms of comfort, size and quality of the bed. The only down-side was the restaurant which had dissapointing food and the atmosphere was cafeteria style. It's great to get... more

We recently visited Etosha as part of a Peregrine Family safari. On checking into Halali we were upgraded to a bungalow (Musharra). Albeit a little way from the main building and the water hole ( about a km walk through the campsite ) the accomodation was fantastic with two double rooms, bathroom with shower, separate lounge, Kitchen, viewing deck and... more

We started planning our trip to Namibia (my first) 6 months in advance and planned to stay at 5 NWR properties, which we chose due to their moderate cost. Like a previous reviewer, I also found the reservation process via the NWR website frustrating, although the employees were cordial and polite, the entire process involved faxes, phone calls, numerous emails,... more

I have been to Halali 3 times altogether. 2001 was fine, 2006 was 'not good' as they were in the midst of the refurbishment programme and it showed. The cottage was fine but the Restaurant was closed or sporadic. There was a fixed printed menu which we tried each night for dinner. Not what we had experienced on the first... more

The "feel" in the Etosha restcamps is very different to the private resorts we stayed in outside - less personal attention, but fairly efficient. We actually preferred being left alone for a while! We stayed in the most basic double rooms, all recently renovated. The rooms are small, but very nice. They have two beds together with an additional child's... more

We stayed in 2 rest camps in Etosha. Okaukuejo & Halali (See seperate review for Okaukuejo). Our check-in experience at Halali was much better than at Okaukuejo, as the staff were much friendlier. Halali also had a refurbishment, but not to the same extent as the other 2 camps. Thus, it still feels like a laidback, rustic place to stay.... more

Our family of 5 adults, rented a van in Windhoek and drove to Waterberg, Etosha Park, Damaraland, and Swakopmund. Each destination provided adventure and natural beauty, but, the abundance and variety of wildlife at Etosha GREATLY exceeded our expectations! We spent one night at Halali due to its' excellent reputation for wildlife viewing at the waterhole. Our personal experience was... more

We stayed in all three of the NWR resorts in Etosha. This was the worst and overpriced. We booked the Jacuzzi Room for approx 1500 N$. First sent an email. No response. Then used the booking form on the NWR website. No response. Finally called a week before the trip. Found out that they are about 1 - 2 weeks... more
