We stayed 3 nights at this superb lodge. The rooms were lovely and very comfortable, although not quite as special as some of the canvas walled rooms at other Wilderness lodges. The evening meal was a buffet and was very good, and the service throughout was excellent. The restaurant area overlooks a waterhole. Black rhinos visited every night, and on... more

Ongava Lodge is a super charming place. The view from the terrace is wonderful, with animals that come to drink at the waterhole (waterbok, giraf, etc). One evening we saw 4 lions! We had large beautiful communicating rooms with our 2 daughters. We saw a lot of animals: more here then in Etosha (December is not the best season) The... more

Ongava has the most comfortable beds in Namibia. The rooms are so luxurious & the lay out is perfect. Friendly & efficient staff looked after us very well. We had a wonderful game drive with Abner, very knowledgeable & great eyesight! The views from the dining room over the water hole are spectacular. The only downside is the food. It... more

Our expectations were very high after reading all the positive reviews on this site. Our welcome wasn’t as nice as expected. The staff yelled at us to park our Toyota Corolla on a kind of overflow parking which had very large stones not really a place were you normally would drive with a 2WD car. Our room looked very nice... more

Wonderful place, a real oasis in the bush! We had a beautiful room (very romantic) with a lovely terrace overlooking the bush and the atmosphere and the food was excellent (I am a vegetarian and since I told them in adavance they made a real effort and I had a delicious meal every lunch and dinner). What really makes this... more

Another excellent stop on this tour, hard to fault. The accommodation was almost sybaritic, the food and wine good, and the waterhole exciting. The staff made us very welcome. Tours around the private reserve and into nearby Etosha National Park were also good and we were lucky with the wildlife we saw. Our guide was noticeably inexperienced, but friendly and... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2007. The rooms were nice and private, although a little minimalist (concrete floor, minimal additions and furnishings). Our room had a funny smell of wood chips/mulch but only noticeable when you walked in. The shower is open plan and there is a balcony with an outdoor shower on it as well. It was... more

We spent 1 night at Ongava, and it really is a beautiful setting with excellent views to the waterhole and lots of game activity. We also took the afternoon game drive which was fantastic. The bungalows are being refurbished so we were lucky to get one which was pretty much brand new, and very nice. However, work was going on... more

This is a beautiful lodge near Etosha, all wood and natural stone with thatched roof. There are 12 spacious private huts, beautifully appointed with wooden furniture and a romantic mosquito net around the bed. The bathroom is also spacious and clean, and there's a nice deck with two chairs to sit out on. The main lodge where the meals are... more

An average experience, but at over $600/night, I was expecting a bit more pizzazz. The food was buffet-style and the lodge staff eat from the same buffet after the guests do (tells you how inexpensive those kudu chops and bread rolls must be). The reason to stay here is the view from the main lodge building - where you eat... more
