A few weeks ago, my wife, 2 kids and I had the pleasure of staying at the 3 Lakes Motel near Michigamme, MI. Our original plan was to drive from Grand Rapids to Copper Harbor for a week of sightseeing, snowshoeing, etc. A blizzard got in the way of those plans so we pulled in unannounced to the 3 Lakes... This is a super cute little mom and pop motel. VERY clean rooms! Yes the rooms are old but in AMAZING shape! The bathroom was super clean, at first I thought that there was duct tape around the tub but then I remembered my Uncle telling me they make self sealing tape for tubs and showers! D and Fred are... This was a late evening take-whatever-comes-along-next motel, the likes of which I have experienced many times over my years of road trips. It was clean, well presented, and no smells. Most importantly for me, there was no unwanted wildlife of any size. The room had a sofa, fridge and microwave. The owner/manager was very polite, helpful and friendly. I would... More

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty sheets and you could tell no one has cleaned this room, found dead bugs on the bedding sheets pullows and along the mattress and there was duct tape in the bathroom tub and no heat. I wish we would have kept on going down the road to the next... More

We wound up here because everything east of it for many miles was full. It was cold and rainy, but the owner said the heat was off for the season, and gave us a small space heater. Thing is, the unit had baseboard heating - all he had to do was flip on a circuit breaker. The shower featured a... More

Nice little mom & pop place. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and accomodating, loved their beagles who came down to the room to meet us. Very beautiful area, found it to be peaceful and relaxing. We took the hike they suggested to Mount Baldy and found the views to be spectacular. It was only a... More

Three Lakes Motel is a small mom & pop motel. Fred and D. told us the best fishing spots in the area. Each place they sent us we did great on the fishing. We were fortunate to see a moose and an eagle exactly in the area they told us. In my opinion Fred & D. know their area very... More

My wife and I stayed at the 3-Lakes motel, 8 miles W of Michigamme on US-41. My snowmobile broke down about 30 miles into the woods. I "hitched" a ride out with a passerby. At the motel, Fred, the owner went out, retrieved my snowmobile, fixed it in his garage at CHEAP prices, and I was out again the next... More
