Lovely building that looks and feels old; I appreciate that the owner did not give in to a lot of updating. It's like stepping back in time. Cool little touches like popcorn left out in the evening and historic photo books of the area for anyone to browse through. Nice, relaxed, take-your-time atmosphere. The fountain out front is just great... More

I very much enjoyed my stay at National House. For me, it was just what I want in a B&B: charming with lots of fun little touches like a welcoming wood-burning fireplace, tea and coffee with the BEST biscotti I have ever had on arrival, popcorn in the evening, and a delicious breakfast. I appreciated talking with Barb over breakfast,... More

My wife and I stayed at the National Inn over the course of an extended winter weekend as a get-away (late February). Barb is a wonderful, caring and passionate owner / proprietor who takes care of her guests as well as her property. She is proud to share stories and conversation, encourage you to relax by the fire, make a... More

I had read reviews of the Old Nationl House before we stayed there and I was skeptical, but I shouldn't have ready the reviews. The Inn is quite charming. Yes, it is old and squeaky and the rooms might be dim and not the most modern. But it is a very old building. The inn keepers have done a wonderful... More

I have traveled to Marshall on business numerous times. At one point last winter, I traveled to Marshall ever week for three months straight. I always stayed north of town in one of the chain hotels. There are fine. Kind of like white bread. Consistent, boring, no appeal. I found myself in town two nights ago at 9PM without reservations.... More

I enjoyed my two night stay. Quiet with character. As with any older B&B,I recommend finding out exactly what you are getting in a bathroom. Some rooms have only tubs, others just a small stand-up shower. I was in the Ells room which was small but perfect for me and it had a shower/tub combo. I wasn't going to mention... More

Stayed recently at National House for two days. The breakfasts were huge disappointments. The quiche was cold and stale each morning and had been sitting for some time and the coffee was very weak ; it seems like the hostesses who basically just stood around could have cooked up an omelet, some bacon or sausage or had fresh bread made... My one night at the National House Inn reminded me of how interesting it is to stay in historic places. My room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. It is definitely not a modern facility although it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Had a delicious dinner at nearby Schuler's Restaurant. Marshall is a quintessential American... We've stayed at many B&B's and like the warm, comfy feeling felt at most of them. This is definitely the exception; it is very dark in there. I'm guessing the innkeeper is trying to keep with the lighting at the time the Inn was built, but it's gloomy. We just weren't that impressed. Many of the rooms are pretty small,... More

We reserved 3 rooms for one night's stay during Marshall's Annual Garden Show in July of 2013 for my grandmother's 95th birthday. All 6 ladies of our family were really looking forward to a relaxing, first time stay at the National House Inn. Unfortunately, it didn't go as planned. After a late dinner at Shuler's Restaurant, we returned back to... More
