I gave the Foothills Motel a good review last year. I found it quaint, quiet and convenient. It does have its advantages, in that it is indeed quiet, compared to downtown Glen Arbor at the height of the season; the location, about ten minutes from downtown Glen Arbor, is convenient; and... that's about it. My mom and I stayed there,... More

The location and value of this small motel are very good. The motel is on a quiet, winding road just five minutes or so from Glen Arbor. The rates were reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. The Foothills Cafe is right next door to the motel. The room was outdated, but otherwise it was fine. There were two... More

We stayed here before the Solstice Race. It's tiny and the rooms smell of cigarette smoke and poor cleaning efforts. It's very dated as well. It was servicable for what we needed, but I wouldn't stay again. Additionally, there were a few ants around, which was unpleasant. The cafe is small. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Basic breakfast... More

We visited Foothills on a local recommendation for breakfast. It is a cute place in the woods away from town. The menu is simple, but the food was very good...not greasy and tasted fresh. We were shocked when we received the bill: $24 for two rather straightforward breakfast entrees and just water to drink. Thus a rating of "average." If... More

My mom and I stayed here for one night in July. She liked it so much that she came back with my sister for one night the following week. It's simple, quiet, convenient, comfortable and clean, and a big value for this area at the height of the season. If you're looking for a standard "luxury" stay at a national... More

We recently stayed at the Foothills Motel and will not go back. It needs some serious cleaning and updating. The mattresses appear to be from the 1970's and are very uncomfortable; the bedding (bedspreads and pillows) smell old and have that greasy not washed in god knows how long smell. The carpet in the rooms is filthy and the plumbing... More

The favorable reviews make me wonder about Trip Advisor, and I'll not trust them again. The photo looks quaint, but it's of the separate building where the cafe is. The motel itself is a dilapidated, shopworn building. Faded paint, old cigarette buts outside the rooms. Room = dirty rug, old worn blankets, shower tile where you stand, so grungy looking... More

Start your day out right-Foothills offers a great breakfast for everyone! Great coffee, bacon, eggs, (any way you like them-even ranchero style)*hashbrowns, beautiful cherry or plain pancakes (1/2 order if need be)* Cinnamon toast, you name it-lots of birds outside and friendly staff make this place a MUST for me and my family when we come up to the Homestead-we... This is an old motel, only about eight units, but it was clean and convenient for our stay after a wedding near Lake Leelenau. We were happy to finally find a place that allowed a one night stay. The mattress wasn't the most comfortable, but other than that, it was fine. Food at the cafe the next morning was a... More

Good Spot and location in the Leelanau Peninsula and best price in the area. They also have a breakfast/lunch restaurant, which boasts the "best breakfast in Leelanau county", which we did eat, but just had eggs, toast, hashbrowns, which were good standard, but they maybe known for specialties we didn't try. Also serving fresh fair trade coffee and cinnamon rolls... More
