My kids and I recently spent 2 nights here. We've tried various hotels in Mackinaw City. Even though I've stayed on the beach before, I liked this place best. The view is great, close to the bridge, and a long beach to walk on at sunset. It's in a quiet area, not much traffic. My daughter wished there was a... More

I'm a little behind in writing this review, but wanted to say how much I enjoyed my stay at the Riviera Motel in Mackinaw City. I was looking for a quiet place on the beach and the Riviera fit the bill. Yes, it is an older motel, I like the term "vintage", but it is clean and comfortable. The beach... More

Our family enjoys finding those "vintage" Mom and Pop places that have been well cared for. We enjoy the retro feel but also enjoy spending less money, especially when we're going to spend most of our time seeing sights away from where we sleep. We found a gem in the Riviera Motel in Mackinac City, MI. The view is incredible.... More

This is an older motel that has been pretty extensively remodeled. Although it is nothing fancy, it is clean and the view from the balcony and some rooms is marvelous. I made my reservation online and requested a room with twins because I thought my youngest son might also make the trip. He didn't and when I arrived and the... More

Even the Riviera's name evokes a feel of the early 1970's style of this clean, convenient motels right on the beach of Lake Michigan. It's retro without even trying. From the original tile-work in the bathrooms to the outdoor swimming pool, it reminds me of a Brady's Bunch vacation spot. We chose this motel purely for the location. I'm a... More

We have been staying at this motel since 2010 when we DISCOVERED this GEM of a VIEW among many views in Mackinaw City. The view from almost every room if not all is of the Majestic Mackinaw Bridge and the Straights of Mackinaw. The owners run this motel themselves and give outstanding personal service making sure everyone has what they... More

I checked all the Tripadvisor recommendations before my trip and I am glad I did. We found this small motel based on comments.. We called (note - call for best price, do not reserve on line. We saved over $20). I always call because I prefer a shower with an extra bar to help me get in and out. We... More

My husband and I stayed here one night. The view of the bridge is fantastic but the motel is very basic. No refrigerator or microwave in the room. I thought that was a basic in a motel room in 2013. The beds were the worst. It felt like me were sleeping on the box springs. No breakfast is offered either.... More

The Riviera Motel is a simple place, clean but nothing fancy. Its best feature is its wonderful location on the shores of the Straits of Mackinac with a fantastic view of the bridge. It is located near the historic fort and next to a lighthouse museum. A short walk takes you to the downtown area for shopping and the ferry... More
