I've been curious about the hotel for years and am surprised it took me this long to stay there. It sits there in a great location near the end of Main Street, right across from the shore, shining in the sun like a big lemon behind its white picket fence. It's one of those old hotels that just beckons you... More

The first time my wife and I stayed at the Windermere in 1997, we were looking for a room with a view of the water for an affordable price. We were totally blown away by the breathtaking view of the strait from our 2nd floor room on that sunny afternoon when we arrived. We have been back 6 times since,... More

Get a room facing the water for the best view on the island!! Easy walk to all the downtown shops and restaurants but far enough away to be quieter. Front porch and Windermere Point are super! The "breakfast" is just coffee, juice and pastries, but it's good and gets you going! All day coffee service would be a nice add.

The Windermere reminds me of a hotel wrapped in a bed and breakfast. From the outside, its a beautiful building on the far end of Main Street, an easy and efficient walk to the main sites on the island. On the inside, (I guess depending on the room) it looks like a nice hotel. The only downside is that there... More

My wife and I stayed at the Windermere Hotel for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend 2014. The hotel, more of a bed and breakfast, was very clean with comfortable beds. It is located at the south end of Main St. Quiet, yet steps away from the hustle and noise of the main shopping area. The Shepler's Ferry Dock is... More

Stayed here for one night with family. The room was clean, however the neighbours had a barking dog which woke us up very early. The breakfast was coffee, juice and muffins. Nothing special. There were not enough sits on the porch for guest to sit. I have been a frequent island visitor for over 20 years and this stay was... More

Just a quick one night stay with my son while touring the U.P. Have always wanted to stay overnight on the island. Last minute reservation. Our room "A" was right off the lobby and you would never have known it. Quiet, overlooked the side yard and the lake. Could hear the horses and the waves. Room was quite large with... More

We stayed at the Windermere Hotel once again earlier this week and as always it was really nice. The rooms are spotless, staff is helpful and friendly and the porch is so pleasant and relaxing. The only thing that's not appealing is the continental breakfast. It needs a little improvement. Cold, hard pastries just don't do it for us. Put... More

We stayed at the Windermere Hotel this past Saturday and it was amazing, room was spotless and the people were very nice and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anybody. We stayed in room B2 which is on the 3rd floor and it's a water view room and it's pretty neat because you can watch the freighters go by.

Everyone was so friendly and I loved our room. I never thought I would find a nice hotel that would fit into my budget . The owner waived the roll-away bed fee so that really helped. Mackinac Island is so beautiful!
