Location, location, location, the Island House does have that. Close to town, just a short walk. She needs to see a contractor for a major lift job. This was our first stay on Mackinac Island. Paint peeling, wall paper coming off the walls, blinds that don't work, clunking pipes and some mold in our first room. Tried to call do... More

I think the view from The Island House is one of the best on the island and that is saying something. The porch was expansive and welcoming. Yes, all of the rooms are different and many are tiny. But the beds and bedding are comfy, the rooms are clean, and the bathrooms are updated. We were upgraded to a first... More

We have stayed on the island before and this was not my first choice. I will say I like the location being close to all the shops but far enough away from the crowds during the day. The hotel over looks a marina so there are nice views from the rooms and chairs outside to relax in and also at... More

After reading a number of reviews give this hotel low ratings because it is old and rooms are not on the scale of 'modern' hotels, I wanted to write a positive review after staying here several days. The hotel is clean, charming, well maintained. The décor and furnishings are tasteful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar and... More

Stayed on the first floor, facing the front porch. The room is TINY with no dresser or chest. Clothes could be hung. Needed to use the sink for coffee pot since there is no where to set anything. However, it was attractively decorated with attention to detail, had a great shower head and wonderful soaps. Staff was friendly. Our package... More

We were very happy with our stay at the Island House. It was absolutely charming! The view was beautiful. The lawn was set up with chairs, fire pits, goodies to make smores overlooking the beautiful water. So relaxing & romantic. Nice rocking chairs on a big front porch. Great restaurant with outdoor seating, Food was great! Service was good. Room... More

The hotel faces the bay which is beautiful in the lobby is lovely the rooms are too old it's an old hotel dining room is been updated in 2013 showing your age is in place and like everything else on Mackinac Island it's outrageously expensive when I stay here againI would probably stay at a bed-and-breakfast

Selected the “upgrade” option when registering online, based on the fabulous choices they offered. The room we were given was the size of my walk-in closet at home. The bathroom door hit the bed. I was told this was my upgrade, that it was a deluxe room. I repeatedly asked to see what a “base price” room looked like. My... More

Let me describing the room it measured 10 foot by 18 foot without a full bath (a closet was converted to a shower and a toilet) the sink was put at the end of the bed with a little curtain covering up all the pipes underneath the sink. The window looked outside to the fire escape and the receiving dock... More
