We found this hotel absolutely delightful! Potential guests should remember that hotels on the island are not intended to be the same as big-city, modern hotels. Many of the nicer hotels are designed for charm and to represent the history of Mackinac. Also, hotels on Mackinac Island are pricey. If you keep these two things in mind, I think you... More

We stayed here before and loved it. The last time was a vacation and to decide if we wanted to get married here. We had such a nice time we decided to book it. The hotel is quaint with charm. The rooms are older but we are ok with that, it added to the ambiance. The first time we really... More

The good: The bed had clean linens and was quite comfortable. The restaurant was exceptional in service, food, and views. We are accustom to staying in historic hotels, so staying in an older facility you can expect the walls to be thin, the bathrooms to be small, and not-so-new furniture. The not so good: We were not expecting a shabby... More

The views are stellar, and probably worth the stay. On balance, I'd say the staff were above average in the hotel and restaurant, with the exception of the front desk, which was hit or miss throughout our short stay. The rooms are very tired. Very tired. If you care to watch TV (we didn't, but I can't not warn those... More

My wife and I spent 2 nights in July 2014 at the Island House. What a great place to stay. We had a package (Wounded Warriors) that was for 2 nights, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner, Round Trip Ferry, and 1 hour bike rental. The hotel is located about 2 blocks from Main Street, which is perfect. Main Street is extremely... More

My family has stayed at the Island House for many years on Mackinac Island, and has always had a good stay. The location is great, there are nice rooms in the hotel itself, and also suites that overlook the harbor. I would give this hotel 4 stars, but cannot this year due to the poor staffing in the dining room.... More

Our tour with Trans Bridge Tours had us booked in the Island House for two nights, and I wish we had been there longer. The room was clean and had everything we needed, but then we mostly needed the room just for bathroom facilities, a chance to change clothing, and to sleep. When on Mackinac Island, there is no need... More

We stayed for two nights at the Island House and was pleased with the accomodations. The room was small, but quaint. The common areas are just beautiful and the from porch is perfect to sit on in the mornings and evenings. However, was disapointed on the second eveing when we were told that we could not sit on the from... More

Location was good. Beds sloped in the middle . Bath tub drained slow. Never got wi-fi connection. Food was ok. When I come back to Mackinac will stay elsewhere .If you like a small bed and breakfast feel you might enjoy it.

Island House has a wonderful staff, wonderful food, wonderful view, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful grounds, numerous amenities. Yes, it's old, but that is what gives it character. The location is wonderful, close enough to town to easily walk and yet far enough away from the busyness of downtown. Their staff is wonderful. They have their own bike rental so very convenient...
