My stay at The Lamplighter was thoroughly enjoyable! Since the hotel that my colleagues reserved was full, I set out to find alternate accommodations. After visiting several establishments, I decided on Jane and Bill's Inn. They are warm and attentive hosts, immaculate innkeepers and gracious individuals who run an outstanding quality Bed and Breakfast. Experience delicious cuisine, a lovely home... more

My husband and I recently spent 2 nghts at the Lamplighter Inn. Simply put, it is one of the nicest B & B's that we have stayed at. Bill, Jane & Maggie (the dog) are great hosts. The room was very comfortable and the amenities many. I am normally not a breakfast eater, however, these were so good I could... more

This was a second visit to the Lamplighter. We were there 2 years ago and enjoyed it just as much. We were the only guests there for the night so we had our pick of the 4 rooms. 2 rooms are on the smaller side but that is not a problem for us as it is just the two of... more

This house has been partly restored and partly updated. Very intelligent use of a former ramshackle money pit. It is very convenient to the ferry and you can walk to several restaurants. On suggestion, I went to the James Port Brewing Co, big trolley barn type place with great food and draft beer. The neighborhood is very walkable/bikeable. Charming hosts,... more

My husband and I decided to vacation along the Lake Michigan coast and were delighted to find the Lamplighter Bed and Breakfast. Our hosts, Jane and Bill were gracious and gave us some wonderful recommendations for dinner and for our trip. The breakfast was outstanding and our room was comfortable with crisp, hand pressed sheets. TV in room was small... more

Often when we have stayed at different B&Bs, we’ve gotten the feeling of being a visitor, just another guest…. not so at the Lamplighter. Jane and Bill go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Their graciousness and warmth fill the whole house. There are many beautiful B&Bs out there, and the Lamplighter is certainly... more

We have stayed with Bill and Jane on several occasions, and have referred them to all of our friends. You will find no better B&B experience. The home is beautiful yet cozy, the food is fantastic, and the service is second to none. You will leave with not only good memories, but also with new good friends. Bill and Jane... more

The Lamplighter is now my first choice whenever traveling to the northern half of the Michigan peninsula. Hotels get pretty old, worn and scary in the outer regions of Michigan, but the small inns are still paying close attention to the details, like cleanliness, comforting amenities, homemade food and charming hospitality. Jane made my stay perfect, helping me with all... more

We had a fabulous four-night stay recently at the Lamplighter Bed and Breakfast. The hosts, Bill and Jane, accommodated our every need and the rooms were wonderful. Bill even offered a ride on his sail boat! Breakfast was fantastic and Jane's recipe for Baked Michigan Oatmeal is one we've made at home a number of times since. Good company, good... more
