Stayed 2 nights last week (Sun. May 10 and Mon. May 11). We were the only occupants since it's off season but the owners were very accommodating and friendly. The room was small but clean and neat with a nice view (excellent shower). Wireless worked great (nice to sit on on the deck and look at the lake while working).... More

We usually stay on the Bay side of Leelanau but this time decided to stay closer to Fishtown and Leland. This hotel over looks Lake Leelanau. Simply beautiful in the Fall with all the colors on the trees. The room was very clean and there is a breakfast room a couple doors down where we stayed that had a microwave,... More

Wonderful location for winter trails, wineries and restaurants. Comfortable accommodations with terrific hosts. We enjoyed our stay and will return. Loved the peace and quiet of the off season. Not many places are open but just enough for us.

We stayed at the WHALEBACK for 3 glorious days at the end of August (friend's daughter got married in town.) LOVED THE WHALEBACK! Owners Scott &Tammy do an amazing job of keeping their guests happy & comfortable. People can call it a B&B- but I'll call it a Lodge, cuz I'm not a fan of B&Bs. This place rocks! Clean,comfortable,cozy,... More

Wife and I stayed here on a weekend. Found it to be comfortable with two queen beds and rustic decor. Everything was clean and tidy. No breakfast since we were in off season, which was disappointing, but found restaurants nearby. Good location for going to wine tasting or day trips to the dunes.

Stayed three days at this well maintained B&B. Next time we will book for longer. The room (#8) was very clean and modern. Easy access to all attractions and superb dining is a plus. The view of Lake Leeanaw at sunrise has to be seen to be appreciated. I'm

The Whaleback Inn was the perfect place to stay while enjoying the Leelanau Penninsula and the Leelanau wine tour. The location is perfect and near great restaurants. We had a beautiful view of Lake Leelanau from our porch. It's close to beaches to enjoy Lake Leelanau, Lake Michigan, or the quaint towns surrounding the area. But best were the Innkeepers,... More

Like most places in Leland, The Whaleback is quite rustic. Think log themed rooms, with earthy tones. We met the owner, Scott, and you can tell he works hard to make your stay enjoyable. He brought us beach towels, in case we wanted to swim. The main benefits of this place: breakfast, solid wifi, location Breakfast: basic continental, but served... More

My wife and I spent two weeks in August 2014 exploring the shores of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. In the process we stayed at 7 different bed and breakfasts. The first thing I’d like to say is that it’s really hard to compare B&Bs: by their very nature they are different and often quirky. However, I’ll do my best.... More
