Stayed three days at this well maintained B&B. Next time we will book for longer. The room (#8) was very clean and modern. Easy access to all attractions and superb dining is a plus. The view of Lake Leeanaw at sunrise has to be seen to be appreciated. I'm

The Whaleback Inn was the perfect place to stay while enjoying the Leelanau Penninsula and the Leelanau wine tour. The location is perfect and near great restaurants. We had a beautiful view of Lake Leelanau from our porch. It's close to beaches to enjoy Lake Leelanau, Lake Michigan, or the quaint towns surrounding the area. But best were the Innkeepers,... More

Like most places in Leland, The Whaleback is quite rustic. Think log themed rooms, with earthy tones. We met the owner, Scott, and you can tell he works hard to make your stay enjoyable. He brought us beach towels, in case we wanted to swim. The main benefits of this place: breakfast, solid wifi, location Breakfast: basic continental, but served... More

My wife and I spent two weeks in August 2014 exploring the shores of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. In the process we stayed at 7 different bed and breakfasts. The first thing I’d like to say is that it’s really hard to compare B&Bs: by their very nature they are different and often quirky. However, I’ll do my best.... More

We were in awe at the beautiful setting of the Whaleback Inn! It sits atop a hill overlooking Lake Leelanau and is backed by a large wooded lot. The room was terrific - the furnishings were all log style - very clean and spacious. The Inn provided a Community Room for use 24/7 which included a large refrigerator, ice, purified... More

My husband and I visited Leland for the first time for a wedding. This darling little hotel suits the town. It is as simple and peaceful as Leland. Our first thought is that it was small and I found it odd that the sink was part of the room instead of the bathroom. However, it really is cute and lovely.... More

We were pretty happy we found this place. It was very clean with really fun rooms the kids loved. They even had a little dock we watched the 4th of July fireworks from. The family who owns it is really nice, too.

Perfect view. Just stayed here for a wedding. I was very impressed. The view, the service, everything. The owners were easy to work with. They have a great breakfast and community room. You can walk down to the water and take in the view, or you can have a seat on the massive porch and look at the view. We... More

Stayed in a newly remodeled cottage suite with small kitchen, separate bedroom and wood burning fireplace. Loved it. Continental breakfast each morning on the wraparound porch with great view. Owners were helpful. Location. Good. Close to Fishtown, dunes, etc.
