Seventy of my family members of four generations descended on the Lakeside Inn for the 90th birthday party of a beloved aunt, held on a Saturday in May. Many of us stayed onsite, from Friday to Sunday. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. The party was catered by the restaurant connected to the hotel. The food and service were... More

Have been guests at the Lakeside Inn many, many times. This is the perfect place to get away from it all. There is the Lake right across the street, numerous wonderful dining experiences are nearby in New Buffalo, the Outlet Mall in Michigan City, and if wine is your thing there is the Wine Trail. Other reviewers are correct in... More

I attended a wedding at Lakeside Inn. I thought the inn was beautiful, cozy, rustic, and charming. The breakfast prepared for the wedding party was outstanding...especially the French toast! Dinner was delicious as well. The inn is beautiful, but it is lacking in some basic conveniences. There are no hair dryers. Staff had to search in several closets looking for... More

You will feel the history of this amazing place the minute you walk in the front door. Though rustic, the Lakeside Inn is clean and comfortable. If you want space and the most modern beds and furniture in your room, this is not the place for you. If you want to step back in time, before there were TVs (hint,... More

Another weekend getaway from Chicago to escape the St Patrick's Day silliness. Lakeside Inn offered 2 nights for the price of 1 off-season special. Clean, small room in a cozy cabin setting. Other guests were gathered around the fireplace chatting when I arrived. Love that. There are no amenities like a TV or a hair dryer or shampoo, etc., so... More

Fall and winter on Lake Michigan when the summer tourists are long gone is more than special. Add the ambiance of a restored 100 year old inn with big fireplaces with a walk on a beach that seems to never end. Add grey skies and big waves and a muffler around the neck. We have spent more than ten Thanksgivings... More

This place is like my hundred year old house. Lots of quirks. Much routine maintenance requiring more time, energy, and money than what I have. And a bunch of neighbors who maybe I never dreamed of having, but by God we are together here and now and we are going to be friends. Wanna sit in your room and watch... More

My Husband and I stayed one night in celebration for our second wedding anniversary. Although some aspects of the accommodations could use some sprucing up(considering the rates were far from discounted for a Sunday night)we enjoyed the quiet and relaxing night stay. Access to the beach and gigantic front porch allowed for a romantic time. However, when checking out (only)... More

A friend and I went to Lakeside for a weekend getaway and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Our room was the "Library" room. It was wood paneled with Craftsman period details like a stained glass door panel and stained glass sconces. The Inn has this great porch across the front that has many rocking chairs and 2 oversized porch swings.... More

I came for a few quiet evenings of stargazing on Lake Michigan and stayed in room 10. The accommodations are not much better than camping and very expensive for what they are. I paid $577 for 3 nights. That includes an upcharge of $25 each night for a cot for my son. The unsmiling innkeeper did not remove the charge... More
