Fall and winter on Lake Michigan when the summer tourists are long gone is more than special. Add the ambiance of a restored 100 year old inn with big fireplaces with a walk on a beach that seems to never end. Add grey skies and big waves and a muffler around the neck. We have spent more than ten Thanksgivings... More

This place is like my hundred year old house. Lots of quirks. Much routine maintenance requiring more time, energy, and money than what I have. And a bunch of neighbors who maybe I never dreamed of having, but by God we are together here and now and we are going to be friends. Wanna sit in your room and watch... More

My Husband and I stayed one night in celebration for our second wedding anniversary. Although some aspects of the accommodations could use some sprucing up(considering the rates were far from discounted for a Sunday night)we enjoyed the quiet and relaxing night stay. Access to the beach and gigantic front porch allowed for a romantic time. However, when checking out (only)... More

A friend and I went to Lakeside for a weekend getaway and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Our room was the "Library" room. It was wood paneled with Craftsman period details like a stained glass door panel and stained glass sconces. The Inn has this great porch across the front that has many rocking chairs and 2 oversized porch swings.... More

I came for a few quiet evenings of stargazing on Lake Michigan and stayed in room 10. The accommodations are not much better than camping and very expensive for what they are. I paid $577 for 3 nights. That includes an upcharge of $25 each night for a cot for my son. The unsmiling innkeeper did not remove the charge... More

Beautiful rustic inn with awesome access to Lake Michigan. Only complaint that I have is with the Inn Keeper lady. She was nasty and rude and seemed to not care about guests. My wife has a food allergy and consumed organic life culture breakfast bars. She approached our table and told us that bringing our own food is against their... More

Yes, the place is a bit worn but that is the charm. We went for a wedding so we were a captive audience. No shampoos or stuff-that felt cheap to me. TRUE, the lady at the front desk during the day was on the verge of nasty-I asked to use the bicycles and she was curt. Turns out there was... More

Our family has been spending a weekend in July up here for the past 10 years. By family I mean 5 siblings and souses, children and their spouses, and now our grandchildren. My mother- in- law has provided this for us as a chance for us to all to get together and enjoy each other. Every year the staff has... More

The lodge is a landmark, classic 1920s Lake Resort with a great beach and lobby but... It's sadly run down not dirty bit quite worn. No shampoo or conditioner little bottles and some desk staff are not ver nice, while another wasn't sure if we could have breakfast the next morning?!? Breakfast was delish but that's another review

This inn has a simple charm and is centrally located to area activities. I loved that the inn has a private beach across the street. It is the ideal place to kick back and relax on the porch or beach. No tv's/internet in the room- perfect chance for some R & R. My only issue was that my sheets had... More
