We were excited to stay at Lakeside. We love the area and have been coming up to Lake Michigan for years. Normally we would stay at the Super 8 in Sawyer and deal with the motel. After all we are about the beach. I must admit that when we drove up last weekend I was very disappointed that the front... More

I rented room 4 which faces the lake. When we checked in, I was surprised to find they were scraping and painting the front porch. The workers were wearing full protected gear and air masks. Our room window faced the front porch. It has a plastic over it, but the window was still filled with paint dust. We immediately found... More

If Wes Anderson had chosen the location for a Midwestern take on Dirty Dancing, he would've done it here. Plenty of creaking wood floors and taxidermy make this authentic cabin-style B&B exactly what I wanted for a late summer inland beach getaway. The gentleman at the front desk was folksy and polite. The room was austere and comfortable with a... More

First off, the positive, it was clean. But, on arrival there are no directions to the lobby, wandered around trying to find it. Rustic is a nice way of saying, run down and old. Restoration was haphazard at best. You cannot see the lake through the trees, it is 106 step(stairs) down to the beach (it's lovely). Mostly, I did... More

We booked the Inn for a getaway with friends. Definitely not worth the money, and definitely not work the extra $25 they charge you during summer months. The steps to and from the beach are 100+ and straight down, and you only want to make 1 trip...tough on any age. You have to beyond quiet at all times, not just... More

I bid on this place that was up for auction on the Michigan Festivals and Events online auction this past spring. According to the description and location I thought it would be a great place to spend a couple of nights. It is a National & State Historical site so that in itself was very intriguing to us. I did... More

Stayed in this place recommend by a friend. The basics of hospitality is scarce in this place. If you find a smiling face during your stay then consider yourself lucky. Especially at the check in desk. The rooms lack basic amenities and don't justify the price. I know this place is labeled as rustic but that should not mean untidy,... More

My best friend and I needed a little R and R before the hustle and bustle of the school year and Lakeside Inn provided it. What a lovely, rustic but very well maintained place. The staff is extremely friendly. Andy the front desk clerk was extremely helpful. The grounds are just breathtaking. The place is ideal for relaxing and grounding.... More

Seventy of my family members of four generations descended on the Lakeside Inn for the 90th birthday party of a beloved aunt, held on a Saturday in May. Many of us stayed onsite, from Friday to Sunday. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. The party was catered by the restaurant connected to the hotel. The food and service were... More

Have been guests at the Lakeside Inn many, many times. This is the perfect place to get away from it all. There is the Lake right across the street, numerous wonderful dining experiences are nearby in New Buffalo, the Outlet Mall in Michigan City, and if wine is your thing there is the Wine Trail. Other reviewers are correct in... More
